Nicole and Keith: Worst Wedding Timing Ever!

By now you have probably heard that Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban made it official on Saturday, June 25 in Sydney, Australia. According to published reports*, "wedding bells chimed at 6:25pm" for the couple. {Source}

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the very first event chart in CelebAstroBlogy's Celebrity Charts Vault: the horoscope drawn for the wedding of Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban. ~ See Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's wedding chart ~ Exclusive to CelebAstroBlogy.com

First, the good news: As shown above, Nicole looked like a pretty pretty princess in her wedding gown, and Keith's highlights were just fabulous.

Now, the bad news. As I previously reported when the wedding date and a time of 6:30 PM were leaked to the press, this is quite possibly the worst horoscope for a wedding ever:

The buzzkill planet Saturn is one that should never be at the forefront of a wedding chart, as it connotes hardship and pessimism. But at 6:30 PM in Sydney on the 25th, Capricorn is on the Ascendant, meaning its ruling planet, Saturn, rules the entire wedding chart. To make matters worse, Saturn is located in the 7th house of partnership, which is the sweet spot of a wedding chart. This is as close as it comes to the ultimate dealbreaker for a wedding chart.

Positive aspects to Saturn could perhaps mitigate its negative influence in the chart, but instead, we find Saturn aspects that exacerbate the suckfest. Saturn is conjunct Mars, the planet of aggression (and also of passion, which will be dampened by its proximity to repressive Saturn), and opposite Chiron, the planetoid that rules wounding. Jupiter forms a T-square (three-way square) with Saturn and Chiron, suggesting that hurt feelings will be blown out of proportion. {Source}

The five minutes' difference with the 6:25 time does not help matters. The strong Saturn influence that is considered to be death to a wedding chart is still very much in effect, with Capricorn rising and Saturn in the 7th house of partnership.

Also, so appalled was I by Saturn that I failed to pick up on yet another horrific vale-of-tears variable in my earlier post. I noted that the Moon in the wedding chart conjuncts Nicole's Sun, which at least is a nice aspect that speaks to the marriage gratifying her ego needs. But what I didn't remark on is that the Moon is void of course in the wedding chart. As with the Saturn rulership and 7th-house placement, this is something that any astrologer picking a wedding horoscope would do anything to avoid, even if it meant holding the ceremony at 3 AM.

When the Moon is void, it means it has made all the aspects it is going to make before entering a new sign. Endeavors begun during the void Moon typically come to nothing; the energy one puts in seems to go nowhere. Put it this way: The one thing you want to do during the void Moon is mail in your tax forms, the thought being that you won't get audited during a window of time when actions go nowhere. Does that sound like the kind of vibe that is conducive to forming a life partnership?

Furthermore, the fact that the wedding took place at the very last gasp of its lunar cycle, right before the New Moon (good for starting new projects and initiatives) in family-oriented Cancer, does not bode well for Nic and Keith settling down. As opposed to the excitement of beginnings symbolized by the New Moon, the waning Moon is a time for endings and wrapping things up. The fact that the Moon rules the Cancer Sun of the wedding chart means that its weakened state bodes extremely unwell for their marriage. The double whammy of the Moon being void-of-course and in its final quarter adds up to this marriage practically being over before it starts. Oh yeah, and the Moon opposes Pluto, foreshadowing power struggles to come.

I have made no secret of the fact that I do not like Nic and Keith together. But I want to stress that this is not because I wish ill toward either of them individually; rather, I want everyone to be happy, and I just get a vibe that the two of them do not work as a couple. The fact that the wedding chart Sun and Moon are conjunct Nicole's Sun, yet are completely debilitated by the Moon's void status, suggests that Nic might even be aware of the invalidity of the relationship, yet is pushing forward anyway in order to gratify her own ego. The ambitious Capricorn Ascendant and the Mars-Saturn conjunction in the 7th house of partnerships speak to a certain dogged determination in pursuing the relationship as if it were a career goal...or perhaps a move designed to cast one or both of their careers in a better light.

To paraphrase Van Halen during their sucky, lyrically redundant era, only time will tell if Nicole and Keith will stand the test of time. (Seriously, they filed for creative bankruptcy after David Lee Roth left, but don't get me started.) Perhaps the determination to rush or force a commitment shown by Mars-Saturn in the 7th house has to do with Nicole's biological clock. (Her reps deny rumors that she is pregnant, saying a nice Catholic girl like Nicole wouldn't get knocked up before the wedding, which presumably means she and Keith did not have premarital sex since Catholics also forbid birth control.)

*P.S. Obligatory time controversy: God, why can't celebrities have all their milestones in America? I'm so sick of looking up time zones in friggin' Sydney and Namibia! Anyway, after due-diligence research, I feel compelled to acknowledge the invariable conflicting reports about timing and explain my judgment call regarding sources. While at least one report claims that "a peal of bells signaled the end of the candle-lit ceremony 90 minutes after Kidman arrived at 5:30 p.m. local time" {Source}, other Australian outlets, including this report as well as this one with a very detailed timeline, corroborate the 6:25PM moment of truth: "At 5pm, they flipped the switches on the fairy lights in the trees outside the chapel, all the way up the curved driveway, creating a romantic path to the church door. When Kidman approached and saw thousands of people waiting for her, she rolled down the window, put her fingers through and waved.... And at 6.25pm, the chapel bells rang and the couple were married." {Source} I've gone with the Aussie reports because they were closer to the source, more detailed and there appeared to be more reports overall with this timeline. Please email me or post a comment if you have evidence to the contrary.

Hey, Kitty,
As an amateur astrologer, I adore this informative and hilarious blog. Thank you for making it!
I find this wedding chart so interesting as I did some electional astrology to choose my own date (4/11/2003, 8:30pm, Vegas) only to have a member of the wedding party secretly marry there 34 hours before our ceremony (4/10, 10am). This time gave them a void-of-course Moon, too, and I always wonder what will (or won't) come of it. They, too, are a female Gem and a male Scorp. Too weird.
Any thoughts?

Wedding Lover - thanks so much! That is a really funny story... well, I wish the best for your friends but you know how I feel about the void Moon! ;)

Tobeysgirl - I definitely hope the Mars-Saturn aspect doesn't manifest that way, but it certainly could have that potential, especially with the Chiron opposition. Let's hope the stress described by that aspect is confined to the psychic realm!

I love this site too; very witty and hilarious. Except for the neverending Britney/Madonna kiss, which gets pretty annoying.
Married under the void-of-course moon; still together after all these years.
