Keith Urban's Scorpio Saga: Relapse, Rehab, Retrograde

Was anyone really surprised when Keith Urban, country musician and Mrs. Nicole Kidman, announced he's checking into rehab? The acknowledged former cokehead fessed on Friday that "one can never let one's guard down on recovery, and I'm afraid that I have." {Source} Well, sure he has. For one thing, you would kinda have to be coked up to find it normal to hang out with someone who never eats and has a deathly pale, waxy cast to her skin at all times. (Forget Botox, Nic may be undead. But that's a whole nother can of worms.)

Then, too, there's the fact that Keith's Scorpio planets (Sun, Mercury and Neptune) have been receiving encouragement from excess-prone Jupiter this year. Scorpio is a sign of intense craving, passionate yearning and deep emotional needs. If a person with a lot of Scorpio energy avoids coming face to face with this bottomless abyss of feeling, he or she may easily turn to the coping mechanism of blotting out said feelings with substance abuse, displacing the craving for emotional connection onto a craving for the junk. (Sex addiction is also right up there as a way of filling the emotional void.) The secrecy and keep-it-on-the-DL M.O. of Scorpios also makes it easy for them to hide an addiction; Mercury retrograde in Scorpio means Keith is very good at communicating under the radar. Uranus in Pisces opposing Keith's Venus in Virgo suggests a sense of instability around relationships, a fear of losing control—which, again, could be sublimated into self-medication with Pisces involved.

Right now, as gratification-oriented Jupiter approaches a conjunction to Keith's natal Neptune, often associated with addiction and deception, in Scorpio, it has been overwhelmingly easy for Keith to indulge himself in the temptations and pleasures that come with power and marital/financial connections (all ruled by Scorpio). In Keith's natal chart, Neptune forms a grand trine with his 1st-house Moon in Cancer, ruler of the chart; and with Chiron in Pisces. This configuration makes it easy for Keith to express his emotions and heal his pain through music, but also gives him precious little self-control when it comes to resisting the impulse to medicate these same emotions.

I can't help but wonder if this relapse confession comes unprompted or whether Keith finally slipped up and was busted by his fembot better half or even the authorities. With Mercury in Scorpio slowing down in approach to retrograde just five degrees from Keith's natal retrograde Mercury, even his Scorpio smooth-operator skills might falter. Perhaps Nic caught him on the phone mid-deal? Alternatively, with Saturn, which rules forces and figures of authority as well as limitation, restraint and structure, approaching an exact square to Keith's natal Neptune, he could have been under pressure from his record label to clean up his act ... or perhaps he even got busted by cops and agreed to rehab as long as the incident was covered up. Or, to take a more supportive view, it is possible that Keith's Mercury return did bring him some insight, while the Saturn-Neptune square led him to lift the chippie-induced blinders from his eyes and take a hard look at the need for more structure and self-discipline in his life.

These same aspects bode well for Keith's stay in rehab, I must say. The Mercury retrograde always invites opportunities to review, reflect and rethink, and this process is only intensified by the fact that Mercury is retrograding over its natal placement in Keith's chart—as well as that Mercury is retrograde natally. Retrograde Mercury will conjunct its natal position on November 9, then, after turning direct on the 17th, make a final conjunction to Keith's Mercury on November 28. If Keith entered a 30- or 45-day treatment program, he really chose an ideal time to focus on looking within himself and redirecting the self-destructive pathways in his mind. Meanwhile, that Saturn-Neptune square challenges Keith to muster up the will power to keep his addictions at bay.

I sincerely wish Keith the best of luck in his recovery; no matter how he came to his decision, it is a positive and healthy step and, again, he has chosen an extremely productive time to tackle this intense, difficult psychic work. I just can't help but wonder, considering that volatile Venus-Uranus square four months into a marriage, how Nicole fits into the picture. Certainly one of the Mercury-retrograde-in-Scorpio issues Keith must confront in rehab will be the secrets he was keeping from his wife (if rumors are to be believed, perhaps sexual as well as drug-related). Once he plumbs his emotional depths, what will Keith discover about his connection and communication (or lack thereof) with Nicole? This may well be a make-or-break time for the Kidbans. Their marriage may emerge strengthened by rehab and by Keith's increased self-awareness and insight ... or said self-awareness and insight might lead Keith to conclude that they should pull a Cheswegger and cut their losses.

Poll Results: Will Nicole and Keith Last?

Ewps! Did I say these results would be up Wednesday? I blame the Mercury retrograde. :}

Last week's poll question was: How long do you think Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's marriage will last?

And the results are...

With 36% of the vote, the winning entry was: "Until the baby is old enough to speak and tells Nic about Keith keeping hoochies on the side."

However, for you hopeless romantics out there who are heartbroken at the idea of Nic and Keith being torn asunder, the runner-up choice, with 27% of the vote, was "Forever and ever and ever! GAWD, you soulless bloggers and your bitter, shrivelled hearts!"

Thanks for playing! Stay tuned for CelebAstroBlogy's next Poll of the Week. If you have a suggestion for a juicy Poll of the Week topic, please email me or post a comment.

Poll of the Week: Will Nicole and Keith Last?

As regular readers know, I maintain that the wedding chart of Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban could not bode worse for their union. Key aspects of the chart, as I have ranted remarked previously, would jump out to any astrologer as dealbreakers for a marriage horoscope.

However, this position is controversial, as many residents of the Interweb appear to take issue with this dour forecast and maintain that Nic and Keith will live happily ever after, galloping on kangaroos into the sunset. Um, or something. Anyway, let's tackle this issue head-on with good old-fashioned majority rule. This week's Poll of the Week is:

How long do you think Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's marriage will last? ~ Vote now!

Polling closes Tuesday, July 18. Cast your vote now and feel free to post a comment if you feel particularly passionate. Don't forget to swing by Wednesday, July 19 to see the results!

Nicole and Keith: Worst Wedding Timing Ever!

By now you have probably heard that Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban made it official on Saturday, June 25 in Sydney, Australia. According to published reports*, "wedding bells chimed at 6:25pm" for the couple. {Source}

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the very first event chart in CelebAstroBlogy's Celebrity Charts Vault: the horoscope drawn for the wedding of Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban. ~ See Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's wedding chart ~ Exclusive to CelebAstroBlogy.com

First, the good news: As shown above, Nicole looked like a pretty pretty princess in her wedding gown, and Keith's highlights were just fabulous.

Now, the bad news. As I previously reported when the wedding date and a time of 6:30 PM were leaked to the press, this is quite possibly the worst horoscope for a wedding ever:

The buzzkill planet Saturn is one that should never be at the forefront of a wedding chart, as it connotes hardship and pessimism. But at 6:30 PM in Sydney on the 25th, Capricorn is on the Ascendant, meaning its ruling planet, Saturn, rules the entire wedding chart. To make matters worse, Saturn is located in the 7th house of partnership, which is the sweet spot of a wedding chart. This is as close as it comes to the ultimate dealbreaker for a wedding chart.

Positive aspects to Saturn could perhaps mitigate its negative influence in the chart, but instead, we find Saturn aspects that exacerbate the suckfest. Saturn is conjunct Mars, the planet of aggression (and also of passion, which will be dampened by its proximity to repressive Saturn), and opposite Chiron, the planetoid that rules wounding. Jupiter forms a T-square (three-way square) with Saturn and Chiron, suggesting that hurt feelings will be blown out of proportion. {Source}

The five minutes' difference with the 6:25 time does not help matters. The strong Saturn influence that is considered to be death to a wedding chart is still very much in effect, with Capricorn rising and Saturn in the 7th house of partnership.

Also, so appalled was I by Saturn that I failed to pick up on yet another horrific vale-of-tears variable in my earlier post. I noted that the Moon in the wedding chart conjuncts Nicole's Sun, which at least is a nice aspect that speaks to the marriage gratifying her ego needs. But what I didn't remark on is that the Moon is void of course in the wedding chart. As with the Saturn rulership and 7th-house placement, this is something that any astrologer picking a wedding horoscope would do anything to avoid, even if it meant holding the ceremony at 3 AM.

When the Moon is void, it means it has made all the aspects it is going to make before entering a new sign. Endeavors begun during the void Moon typically come to nothing; the energy one puts in seems to go nowhere. Put it this way: The one thing you want to do during the void Moon is mail in your tax forms, the thought being that you won't get audited during a window of time when actions go nowhere. Does that sound like the kind of vibe that is conducive to forming a life partnership?

Furthermore, the fact that the wedding took place at the very last gasp of its lunar cycle, right before the New Moon (good for starting new projects and initiatives) in family-oriented Cancer, does not bode well for Nic and Keith settling down. As opposed to the excitement of beginnings symbolized by the New Moon, the waning Moon is a time for endings and wrapping things up. The fact that the Moon rules the Cancer Sun of the wedding chart means that its weakened state bodes extremely unwell for their marriage. The double whammy of the Moon being void-of-course and in its final quarter adds up to this marriage practically being over before it starts. Oh yeah, and the Moon opposes Pluto, foreshadowing power struggles to come.

I have made no secret of the fact that I do not like Nic and Keith together. But I want to stress that this is not because I wish ill toward either of them individually; rather, I want everyone to be happy, and I just get a vibe that the two of them do not work as a couple. The fact that the wedding chart Sun and Moon are conjunct Nicole's Sun, yet are completely debilitated by the Moon's void status, suggests that Nic might even be aware of the invalidity of the relationship, yet is pushing forward anyway in order to gratify her own ego. The ambitious Capricorn Ascendant and the Mars-Saturn conjunction in the 7th house of partnerships speak to a certain dogged determination in pursuing the relationship as if it were a career goal...or perhaps a move designed to cast one or both of their careers in a better light.

To paraphrase Van Halen during their sucky, lyrically redundant era, only time will tell if Nicole and Keith will stand the test of time. (Seriously, they filed for creative bankruptcy after David Lee Roth left, but don't get me started.) Perhaps the determination to rush or force a commitment shown by Mars-Saturn in the 7th house has to do with Nicole's biological clock. (Her reps deny rumors that she is pregnant, saying a nice Catholic girl like Nicole wouldn't get knocked up before the wedding, which presumably means she and Keith did not have premarital sex since Catholics also forbid birth control.)

*P.S. Obligatory time controversy: God, why can't celebrities have all their milestones in America? I'm so sick of looking up time zones in friggin' Sydney and Namibia! Anyway, after due-diligence research, I feel compelled to acknowledge the invariable conflicting reports about timing and explain my judgment call regarding sources. While at least one report claims that "a peal of bells signaled the end of the candle-lit ceremony 90 minutes after Kidman arrived at 5:30 p.m. local time" {Source}, other Australian outlets, including this report as well as this one with a very detailed timeline, corroborate the 6:25PM moment of truth: "At 5pm, they flipped the switches on the fairy lights in the trees outside the chapel, all the way up the curved driveway, creating a romantic path to the church door. When Kidman approached and saw thousands of people waiting for her, she rolled down the window, put her fingers through and waved.... And at 6.25pm, the chapel bells rang and the couple were married." {Source} I've gone with the Aussie reports because they were closer to the source, more detailed and there appeared to be more reports overall with this timeline. Please email me or post a comment if you have evidence to the contrary.

Nicole Kidman Sure Looks Pregnant

Wow, Nicole Kidman does look pregnant in this picture, I gotta tell ya. I have already discussed the fact that the alleged timing of her wedding to Keith Urban troubles me, as it does not bode well for their marriage. But perhaps nice Catholic girl Nic is just in a hurry to get hitched so she can make her baby legal.

Right now Jupiter is in Nicole's first house, which can represent growth and expansion (literal and figurative) on the physical level. ~ See Nicole Kidman's birth chart (Astrotheme) Obviously this could describe her bump; a pregnancy would be a massive (literally) physical expansion for a Skeletor like Nicole.

Jupiter also rules luck and blessings, and Nicole has made no secret of her profound wish to be blessed with a biological child. (Which really begs the question of why she and Tom Cruise didn't have one, but we won't go there.)

In Nicole's progressed chart, representing her personality's evolution up to the present moment, the Moon (motherhood) in Taurus in the 5th house, which rules children, is moving into an almost exact trine with Venus, Taurus' ruling planet and the planet of relationships. Together the Moon and Venus, two female-identified planets, in harmony represent Nicole's readiness for a child.

Progressed Jupiter is also closely trining Nicole's natal Moon in Sagittarius (which is ruled by Jupiter), a great indicator of good luck conceiving, as well as moving toward a conjunction with her natal Venus, another possible indicator.

Indeed, as PerezHilton.com suggests, an announcement could be imminent, with Uranus about to station in Nicole's 5th house. If Nicole really is pregnant, congratulations to her and Keith; even if I'm not the biggest fan of their relationship, when it comes to baby-making I wish them both the best of luck and good health.

Did Nicole and Keith Pick the Wrong Wedding Date?

As regular readers know, I am very skeptical of the Nicole Kidman–Keith Urban coupling. But as yet their wedding plans seem to be full steam ahead. And now a new report has gone so far as to pinpoint the exact date, time and location of the nuptials—an astrologer's dream!

"The lovebirds, worried that sneaky lensmen will get unauthorized shots of their June 25 wedding in Sydney, Australia, are planning to stage the ceremony at night. Their wedding planners say the service will begin after 6:30 p.m. as the sun sets..."{Source: Page Six}

It's almost like Nic and Keith leaked this info to the press in hopes that an astrologer would let them know whether this is, in fact, an auspicious hour to wed. (By "almost like," I mean in my own delusional world.) Well, I have to say that I am not too pleased by this chart at all. If they really do get married shortly after 6:30 PM, I must say irrespective of my personal distaste for the relationship, their marriage will be an uphill battle.

When picking a chart for a wedding, astrologers look for certain planets to be strong and highlighted, to favor happiness and harmony, while other planets are downplayed.

Positive aspects to Saturn could perhaps mitigate its negative influence in the chart, but instead, we find Saturn aspects that exacerbate the suckfest. Saturn is conjunct Mars, the planet of aggression (and also of passion, which will be dampened by its proximity to repressive Saturn), and opposite Chiron, the planetoid that rules wounding. Jupiter forms a T-square (three-way square) with Saturn and Chiron, suggesting that hurt feelings will be blown out of proportion.

Venus, which should be prominent in a wedding chart, is very weak. It is in changeable Gemini, which is not a good sign for an enduring commitment, and other than an out-of-sign sextile to Mercury, it is unaspected, meaning its energy is not really resonating with other planets in the chart. Further, there are no planets in Taurus or Libra, the signs Venus rules, which could have boosted Venus' influence a bit.

One interesting point is that the Moon's placement at 6:30 exactly conjuncts Nicole's Sun at 29 Gemini. Again, Gemini is not so great for a marriage chart, but it's nice that she has a connection with the wedding chart there, along with the wedding chart's Mars on her Venus. Since the wedding date is a few days after Nic's birthday, the Sun in Cancer is also in an out-of-sign conjunction to her Sun. That's nice too, but not so major. It also kind of suggests to me that the wedding is her own idea, an outgrowth of her ego. As for Keith, he doesn't have any great connections with the wedding chart.

Who knows? Nic and Keith could have just leaked this date to the press to throw them off the trail, while they secretly plot to surprise everyone by getting married sooner. It will be interesting to see whether they do in fact move forward with this date and time, and whether their union is fraught with the Saturnian strife I fear. (By "interesting" I mean "schadenfreude-inducing." Have I mentioned I do not care for this couple?)

Nicole and Keith: What Are They Hiding?

Gentle readers, how I love getting your tips and insights. A commenter known only as H. has drawn my attention to a birth chart for Keith Urban that includes a birth time. See Keith Urban's birth chart (Vega Attraction Astrology) Granted, no source is given for said birth time. Then again, my fave celebrity horoscope resource, Astrotheme, doesn't provide sources for its birth data either. So, let's check out this chart and see what it portends for Keith's compatibility with Ms. Nicole Kidman, which is obviously the only capacity in which anyone is at all concerned with him or his horoscope.

With 10° Cancer on the Ascendant, this natal chart places Keith's Moon (emotions) at 19°32" of its own sign, Cancer, a heartbeat away from Nicole's Mercury (communication) at 20°56" Cancer, which makes it easy for her to understand his feelings and relate to him.

Keith's Ascendant squares Nicole's Saturn, which could suggest that he appears to her to be someone she can make an enduring commitment to... but also could suggest her hesitating or doubting herself in his presence.

Keith's Midheaven (representing his career goals) sits on Nicole's Descendant or 7th house cusp (representing her partnerships). Hmm... could this suggest that his career ambitions are part of what draws him toward a relationship with her? Or that his career as a singer fits her image of the type of man she should be with?

Now, their composite chart, which shows the relationship, has a very interesting dynamic. The Sun and Venus are closely conjunct in controlling Virgo in the secretive 12th house. Virgo is also on the Ascendant, and Mercury, Uranus and Pluto are conjunct in the 1st house. All this describes how Nic and Keith are intensely private about the relationship, flying under the radar and tightly controlling the information they let appear to the public. But it also speaks to a level of obsessive-compulsiveness in the relationship dynamic. Mars conjunct Neptune in Scorpio in the composite adds to the secrecy and introduces a hint of possible deception.

Do these aspects simply reflect the fact that they like sneaking around to thwart the press? Or could the Kidman-Urban union be an orchestrated one? Is Nicole out to out-farce TomKat? Is it really all about beating them to the altar? Time will tell....

Nicole Kidman Uses the F Word

Well, it's official. Another couple has chosen to defy all astrological wisdom and give a Gemini-Scorpio marriage a go. When will people learn?

In New York City on Saturday, Nicole Kidman hosted the 30th Anniversary gala for the organization UNIFEM. Her date? Keith Urban, who, she admits, is not just her boyfriend. "He's actually my fiancé," Kidman exclusively told PEOPLE on Monday. "I wouldn't be bringing my boyfriend." [Source]

First of all, how self-centered is that? It's not the prom, lady, it's a friggin' benefit to raise awareness about international women's rights, so it's kinda shallow to be all like, "Keith, you're not coming to the gala until I get a ring!" Secondly, way to wish you were Angelina with the whole U.N. thing. (Although I have to admit, Nicole was adopting multicultural children while Angie was still smearing herself with blood.)

But I digress. Now, I have gone on record saying that, despite some connections between their horoscopes, I feel that Nicole and Keith will not last. I have even gone so far as to suggest that while he is portrayed in the press as the commitment-shy one, her horoscope reveals that Nic is not necessarily the settling-down type. ~ See Nicole Kidman's astrological chart (Astrotheme) In March, I predicted that they would either split up at the end of April or embark on a short-lived marriage:

Uranus' square to Nicole's Moon becomes exact at the end of April. And with stationary Saturn still putting pressure on her Jupiter around this time, the urge to escape could become overpowering. Will Nic pull a Runaway Bride and flee her commitment to Keith? Or will she make like Renee Zellwegger and actually marry him, only to nullify the nuptials four months later -- in August, when Uranus retrogrades over the square to her Moon? Either way, expect to see some major changes in Nicole's emotional life in the coming months. [Source]

So far Nic seems to be right on schedule with her engagement announcement. Impulsive Uranus' square to her spontaneous Sagittarius Moon is still very close to exact. But Venus is on her Saturn, reinforcing the lovely, harmonious Grand Trine between her natal Moon, Venus and Saturn, which makes her feel this is the right time to announce a binding emotional commitment.

With Jupiter, the ruler of her Sagittarius Moon, not far from her Ascendant, she would seem to be feeling optimistic about the future. But Jupiter is retrograde and square to Saturn in Leo on the Midheaven. Perhaps Nicole is having doubts, but feels pressured by the public attention on her to move forward with the relationship for the sake of her career.

Uranus will be messing with Nicole's Moon until early 2007, so it will be most interesting to see how this relationship evolves. I still think that it will not last; if they do get to the altar, it could be a Chad Michael Murray–duration marriage. With Keith's Scorpio Sun in Nicole's 12th house, it would not surprise me to see revelations emerge that he has been keeping secrets from her, possibly involving Scorpio-ruled matters such as...oh, I don't know...sex? See Keith Urban's astrological chart (Astrotheme, no birth time) Nic, honey, those Scorpio men are awfully seductive, but you've gotta watch out for them. And I hope we don't even need to have a conversation about the urgency of drafting a she-nup.

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban: Heading for a Wedding or a Breakup?

The tabloids are determined to believe that Keith Urban is the man with whom Nicole Kidman will finally live happily ever after. For a minute there everybody was even all "Ooh, Nicole Kidman is missing! She and Keith are getting married!" Sorry to burst everyone's bubble, but I maintain my conviction that they don't share a lasting bond and that in fact Nicole may not be the marrying kind. And now, since the latest photos of them have surfaced, I have a feeling that they're at a poop-or-get-off-the-pot point in their relationship and that Nicole may... eww, I was about to extend that metaphor, but let's not and just say that Nicole is more likely to end the relationship than make it official.

I mean, just look at these pictures on PerezHilton.com. See, this is what I'm saying. Do they not look bored and sick of each other? But hey, I'm no body language expert, so instead I'll point out that Uranus in Pisces is approaching a square to Nicole's Sagittarius Moon, which means she may be headed for some emotional upheaval -- we're talking a very dramatic change of heart. And Saturn is retrograding over her elevated Jupiter, the ruler of her Sag Moon, stirring up feelings of restlessness and impatience as well as frustration toward areas of her life she was excited and optimistic about. See Nicole Kidman's astrological chart (Astrotheme)

In her birth chart, Nicole has Chiron in the final degree of Pisces squaring her Gemini Sun, suggesting a deep-seated emotional vulnerability, and this is about to be activated when the Sun passes over it early next week. This is a minor flare-up, but it may trigger a period of self-doubt and uncertainty. As March goes on and Mercury retrogrades through Pisces, finally coming to station in a square to Nicole's Moon, she may be rethinking her feelings and beset by insecurities about the relationship. Meanwhile, transiting Saturn is squaring Keith's Sun, so he feels frustrated and ineffective. He would really face an uphill battle to rise to the occasion and prove his passion for her. See Keith Urban's astrological chart (Astrotheme, no birth time)

UPDATE: More rumblings of Uranian turmoil, plus a possible pregnancy for Nic... note that the Moon also rules motherhood... hmmm... (Original source: Laineygossip.com; I found it on Oh No They Didn't)

Update: Nicole and Keith's Scorpio Connection

How much do j'adore Astrotheme, the French astrology site I recently discovered? After supplying me with a birth time for her ex the other day, Astrotheme also yielded a birth time for Miss Nicole Kidman, whose relationship with Keith Urban I recently chronicled here. ("Never Mind Keith -- Can Nicole Commit?")

Now, as I noted previously, Astrotheme does not list sources for birth time, that I could find anyway, so I can't vouch for where this data comes from and whether it has been confirmed. But just for fun, I plugged in the birth time to see whether it might account for the chemistry between Nicole and Keith, which seemed kinda lacking without their complete charts. Sadly, Astrotheme doesn't have a birth time for Keith. But getting a more exact picture of Nicole's chart does show a bit more in the way of a bond between them -- and I do mean a bit.

The 3:15 PM birth time gives Nicole a 6° Scorpio Ascendant, which is loosely conjunct Keith's Sun and puts his Mercury and Neptune in her first house. But his Sun is conjuncting her Ascendant from the 12th house, which is not such a great placement for a partnership. Keith's Scorpio Sun in Nicole's 12th could mean that he supports her from behind the scenes, but also might mean that on some level he is subtly manipulating and undermining her. Either way it seems like a weird dynamic for a relationship between two people who are stars in their own right. And yes, her Moon at 13° Sag squares his Venus, which could be kind of a sexy aspect, but with his Venus in Virgo in her 11th house of friends and acquaintances, it just doesn't seem like a very romantic aspect.

A composite chart showing their relationship dynamic is interesting, with five planets in Virgo. The Sun and Venus are very closely conjunct at 0° Virgo while Mercury, Pluto and Uranus are piled up in later degrees. Now, this does show an extremely tight bond, but perhaps almost a suffocating one. Without Keith's birth time, a composite can only tell me so much, but the dynamic seems kind of neurotic and repressive. Mars and Neptune conjunct in Scorpio certainly point to an erotic charge, but with all that Virgo this seems like a tightly managed relationship that doesn't really allow them to let their hair down.

This birth time could, again, be incorrect, and certainly the picture is still incomplete in any case without Keith's exact time of birth. But as yet I'm simply not seeing strong indicators that Nicole and Keith will last. There's something weird about that composite to me.

Never Mind Keith -- Can Nicole Commit?

All the media chatter around Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's blossoming relationship has focused on the question of whether he can settle down and commit to her. Well, what I'd like to know is, can she commit to him, or to anyone?

Sure, with her Mercury in Cancer, Nicole talks a good game about settling down with the whole white-picket-fence deal. And with Venus and Jupiter in Leo, she comes off as a hopeless romantic, wearing her heart on her sleeve and getting it dramatically broken with regularity. When she bats those flirty Gemini eyes, the public assumes that this plucky lass who loves too much has been used and abused by the fickle likes of Tom Cruise/Lenny Kravitz/Steven *shudder* Bing/the aforementioned Keith. But doesn't it ever occur to anyone that a Gemini with a Sagittarius Moon might actually enjoy all this partner-hopping? Serial dating is the preferred modus operandi of the Gemini. And while Sagittarius Moon types will gladly hop a plane to the ends of the earth (or, say, Nashville) to pursue a romantic adventure, the idea of being tied down in a commitment terrifies them. It may be that marriage is not Nicole's goal at all. If she's having fun with her passionate flings, why stop playing the field? With the Venus-Jupiter conjunction in Leo, she's all about following her heart, but with her Sun and Moon in mutable signs, it may lead her in several different directions.

Ironically, Keith Urban, a Scorpio with the Moon either in Cancer or Leo, Venus and Jupiter in Virgo, and Mars in Capricorn, seems much more capable of building a lasting commitment than Nicole. With the Sun and Mercury in Scorpio, it may be that he hides the depth of his feelings until he's utterly certain that he won't get hurt -- then he's in for the long haul.

I doubt, though, that Keith will be the man to make Nicole settle down. Since I don't have either of their birth times, there may be some dynamic I'm not seeing (perhaps the Leo Moon vibing with her Venus-Jupiter), but their charts don't really have strong connections with each other. Their Suns form a benign out-of-sign trine, but this just suggests that they get along harmoniously, rather than possessing any deep bond or even great sexual chemistry. Really, a shared love of Vegemite can only take you so far as a couple.

So who might be a better match for Nicole? Well, maybe once fellow Gemini supastah Angelina Jolie has chewed up and spit out her Sagittarius puppy dog Brad Pitt, Nic will be there to pick up the pieces. Just picture it -- all their multiethnic adopted children frolicking happily together, and Brad with his hair dyed red to match Nicole's. I can't wait!
