Brangelina's Baby Has Arrived!!!

I almost cannot believe this day has come.

Angelina Jolie has given birth to Brad Pitt's baby, and it is a double-Gemini girl named Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt. {Source}

OMG. OMG. OMG.

Maddeningly, Pitt's publicist did not release a birth time, only stated that Shiloh was born "the night of May 27, 2006 in Namibia, Africa." But you better believe I am working on a birth chart; stay tuned for an update SOON.

Gwen and Gavin's Gemini Baby

It's a boy! Gwen Stefani's fashion-accessory bump has proved to contain an actual infant, named Kingston James McGregor Rossdale. [Source] (Perhaps she named it after the capital of Jamaica to celebrate her love of reggae?) Dad is, of course, British alt-rocker Gavin Rossdale, which perhaps explains the Brittiness of the middle names, or maybe that was to celebrate Gwen's love of ska. Anyhoo, this once-volatile Libra-Scorpio couple seems to have settled into a very comfortable place (I'm wary of consecutive-sign couples, but her Ascendant is in Scorpio, and they both have Venus in Virgo and Mars in Capricorn) and I am delighted to congratulate them on the long-hoped-for birth of their first child. (And only slightly disappointed that we won't get to see Gwen dressing up a little girl. Maybe next time? C'mon, Gwen, you're gonna have to promote the L.A.M.B. maternity line!)

According to the good people at Us, the happy parents' rep has done me the favor of pinpointing little K.Ro's time of birth as "shortly before 1 p.m. on Friday" and the location as "Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles." Thus I have calculated a natal horoscope for Kingston Rossdale using a time of 12:59 PM PDT. Here is the young Gemini's chart:

See Kingston James McGregor Rossdale's birth chart ~ Exclusive to CelebAstroBlogy.com (no birth time)

Born hours before the New Moon in Gemini, Kingston has the Moon in Gemini approaching a conjunction to his Sun. With these planets as well as Mercury on the Gemini Midheaven, Kingston will be incredibly sharp-witted and verbal. He is likely to aspire to be a writer, or possibly a mathematician; it just seems more likely that Gwen and Gavin will raise the next Bob Dylan than an all-star Mathlete. With this much Gemini, plus Mercury squaring disruptive Uranus, the kid could have some trouble focusing and staying still in school, but the emphasis on the Midheaven in his chart suggests he will be driven and ambitious enough to apply his considerable mental energy toward goals rather than just scattering it.

With Virgo on the Ascendant, Kingston is very careful about how he presents himself and fastidious about his appearance (gee, wonder who will instill that compulsion in him?), but the Ascendant is opposed by Uranus in the 7th house, so Kingston might get involved in a relationship and become a completely different person, shocking everyone by doing a total 180. Venus in Aries' square to Mars, and Mars' trine to Pluto, make Kingston a passionate person, capable of lashing out with quite a temper (reinforced by, again, Mercury's square to Uranus).

With Kingston's Sun and Mercury trining Gwen's Sun-Jupiter in Libra, they will have a loving, harmonious mother-son relationship. Mama Gwen's Venus in Virgo on his Ascendant is a nice sign that she will be taking good care of him (and perhaps obsess about dressing him up, changing his appearance as often and as meticulously as she does her own). Her Moon in Cancer, signifying her maternal nature, forms a grand trine with his Jupiter and Uranus, which could show her bringing out his creative nature but also, perhaps, mean that he acts out around her to manipulate her. See Gwen Stefani's birth chart (Astrotheme)

Dad Gavin also has Venus, as well as Jupiter, in Virgo; they flank baby Kingston's Ascendant, again giving off a protective parental vibe. See Gavin Rossdale's birth chart (Astrotheme, no birth time) Gavin's Sun and Mercury are right on Kingston's Jupiter, suggesting he will provide mentoring and growth to his son and encourage him as he makes his way in the world. (Awww.) Gavin's Saturn, representing the father principle, trines Kingston's Saturn, so they will likely have a relatively easy father-son relationship, with Kingston willingly respecting his dad's authority.

Wishing all the happiness in the world to this adorable little fam! Can't wait to see the kid, and what he's wearing!

Site Update: Rebranded, and It Feels So Good

If you are a regular visitor to this site, and/or a frequent player of that touch-screen video game in bars where you have to spot 5 differences between two pictures of a skanky lingerie model before time runs out (yes, it's technically called Erotic Photo Hunt), you may have noticed a few changes in our header graphics and title bars. Yes, there is a rebranding afoot here at CelebAstroBlogy!

In the personality-shifting spirit of the Gemini planets currently reigning overhead, the site formerly known as Media-Darling.com will henceforth be known as CelebAstroBlogy.com. You will still be able to access old links and bookmarks that start with the media-darling URL, but in addition to being available at media-darling.com, CelebAstroBlogy will now be accessible at http://celebastroblogy.com and, for good measure, http://celebastrology.com.

Basically, the reason for this "branding" decision was just to simplify both the design and promotion/marketing aspects of the site by giving people (and search engines) one name to remember rather than two. While it may cause slightly more confusion in the short term, as word of mouth spreads and CelebAstroBlogy grows, it just makes sense to have a web address that matches the title of the site and, duh, vice versa. I will continue to use the Media-Darling name as an umbrella for my work as a writer, editor, web designer and astrologer; my email will remain kitty@media-darling.com, and you can still find my professional portfolio at http://kitty.media-darling.com.

Thank you for your time. We now resume our regularly scheduled programming.

Some quite iconic Geminis were born today! Keep reading; they get more famous as we scroll along, I promise.

With my Venus in Pisces, there is nothing I love more than a scruffy strung-out-looking rocker boy. I'm not gonna lie—the Black Crowes' Rich Robinson, 37 today, is hella dreamy.

Look up "character actor" in the dictionary and you will find a picture of John C. Reilly, 41 today. See John C. Reilly's birth chart (Astrotheme, no birth time)

Actress Kristin Scott Thomas is 46. See Kristin Scott Thomas's birth chart (Astrotheme, no birth time)

"American Idol" Astrological Predictions

Let's get one thing straight up front. I do not like American Idol. I do not understand the fascination with it. I cannot watch it without cringing in intense discomfort, to the point that my face burns and tears come to my eyes. Even the amusing prospect of seeing Paula Abdul lose her tenuous grip on sanity on live TV or watching Ryan Seacrest endure taunts about his thinly veiled closetedness cannot entice me to withstand the performances. I can honestly say that I have not seen a single minute of the show this season, and prior to that I've only been exposed to a few moments here and there while I frantically searched for the remote. (Don't get me wrong—this is not snobbery on my part by any means; I just happen to have particular tastes in reality shows. I could watch Top Chef or Trading Spouses: Meet Your New Mommy from dawn till dusk.)

But I thought it would be an interesting exercise to do a blind (deaf?) prediction of the winner in Wednesday night's show, having never heard either of the two finalists, Katharine McPhee and Taylor Hicks, sing and looking only to their birth horoscopes for guidance. Thus, in spite of my personal distaste for Idolatry, I have selflessly undertaken the task of not only predicting the season's winner but offering the finalists' birth charts for public consumption on the Interwebs.

See Taylor Hicks's birth chart ~ Exclusive to Media-Darling.com (no birth time)

See Katharine McPhee's birth chart ~ Exclusive to Media-Darling.com (no birth time)

Taylor, first, has lucky Jupiter on Venus, ruler of his Libra Sun, the planet of wealth and worth, so it's almost like he has it in the bag right there. This is a pretty classically fortunate aspect. However, it is definitely worth noting that Uranus in Pisces trines Venus, and Jupiter is retrograde, so it is possible that his luck could reverse unexpectedly. The transiting Sun is on Taylor's Jupiter in Gemini, further enhancing his good luck. Transiting Mars is approaching a square to its natal position, which can trigger rash, impulsive action, but it is far enough away that it seems unlikely to throw him significantly out of whack. Saturn in Leo is squaring his Uranus, which brings dramatic life changes, conceivably those wrought by fame.

Katharine has a couple of fortunate aspects, like Mercury directly on her North Node, lucky Jupiter trining her Venus, and Jupiter having just retrograded over her Saturn. But she also has a couple of aspects that could suggest disappointment, like Uranus on her Venus (the inverse of Taylor's Jupiter on Venus/Uranus trine Venus; interesting that their Venuses aspect each other), implying an unexpected reversal of fortune. And the Sun in early Gemini is still in an out-of-sign conjunction to Chiron, planet of wounding, in Taurus. Gemini rules the lungs and Taurus rules the voice, so it could be that Katharine has not been taking good care of her vocal cords.

One of my online colleagues has chosen to stake his prediction of a Katharine win on the Moon's position in Taurus on Wednesday night, May 24, the American Idol finale, when the winner will be revealed. Contrarian that I am, I must beg to differ with his methodology, for the actual performing and voting take place on Tuesday night, May 23. It seems to me that the winner will be determined more by Tuesday's aspects, indicating how "on" the contestants' performances are and how the public responds to them. (It is a darned shame that we do not have either of their birth times, as it would be great to see what's happening in the 11th house of public perception and mass media.) At the time of the finale (8PM ET, or 5PM L.A. time) Taylor will have the Aries Moon/Venus conjunction opposite his Sun/Mars while Katharine has the Moon right on her Mercury and Venus close by. Especially factoring in that her Sun is also in Aries, Katharine definitely has the edge in terms of lunar placement; in fact, the Aries Moon is a stronger positive influence than Wednesday's Taurus Moon.

So, both contenders have planets in their corners. But if I have to pick (and again, I haven't heard either one sing, though I can tell you that Katharine is a darn sight more camera-ready than Taylor), I would say it's hard to trump that Jupiter-on-Venus and Jupiter-on-Sun in Taylor's chart. Likewise, Uranus on her Venus could mean a surprise upset victory for Katharine (I'm told by Research Chief Karen that Taylor is the favorite, though that is inconceivable to me from looking at the two of them), but seems more likely to bode the rug being pulled out from under her. I can predict only one thing with absolute certainty: I will not be watching.

Naomi Campbell, 36 today, has Mars, planet of aggression, in Gemini, the sign of communication, squaring Pluto in controlling Virgo. Hence, she hits people with phones when they do not do as she pleases. See Naomi Campbell's birth chart (Astrotheme)

New Edition's Johnny Gill, who is said to be Eddie Murphy's BFF, is 40.

As much as I adore the man, I've come to wish Morrissey an unhappy 47th birthday, because his misery continually leads to more infectiously jaunty pop songs. So drink, drink, drink and be ill tonight! See Steven Morrissey's birth chart (Astrotheme, no birth time)

Elton John's platonic life partner, lyricist Bernie Taupin, is 56.

Okay, Ted Kaczynski, a.k.a. the Unabomber, 64 today, is not exactly a celebrity per se. But I cannot help noting his tight conjunction of the Sun with Saturn (authority, repression, government) and explosive, rebellious Uranus in Gemini (again, communication, written as well as spoken) sextiling Pluto, and wondering whether he and Naomi Campbell might make a good couple. Paul McCartney: Turning 64 and Single

I don't know if you kids out there care about old Sir Paul McCartney and the dissolution of his marriage to Heather Mills (your feedback is welcomed), but I was just taking a peep at his chart and I have to say, I feel kind of sad for him. I'm not saying that Ms. Mills was necessarily any prize, because I think it's telling that she didn't get along with his kids, i.e. Stella. But the man who sang "When I'm 64" is rapidly approaching his 64th birthday (on June 18) and it seems a cruel twist of fate that he will spend it alone.

Paul obviously had a soulmate connection with Linda, and that is a tough act to follow. A British tabloid recently reported that Heather was actually never happy with Sir Paul:

Heather realised Paul had lived in his own little world with Linda, spending every single day together and smoking a lot of dope. Heather didn't want that because she said it wasn't healthy. But Paul did want her to be like that — although she had things to do, places to be, people to see. It was an irritant to him." [Source]

Well, duh, of course he wants to be in his own cozy little pothead world. Paul's Sun forms an out-of-sign conjunction to Jupiter in home-and-family-oriented Cancer, making him more of a homebody than the average Gemini. Dreamy, druggie Neptune, ruler of the 7th house of partnership, is on the Ascendant, suggesting that Paul does indeed live in a magical world of his own making with his mate. And since Neptune is in Virgo, any detail that does not fit in his vision could indeed be an "irritant." With Neptune-ruled Pisces (drugs and the blurring of emotional separateness) on the Descendant, or 7th-house cusp, and the nurturing asteroid Ceres close by, the healthy-hippie vegetarian-meditation nature of Paul's relationships is plain to see. See Paul McCartney's birth chart (Astrotheme)

Meanwhile, Heather, as a determined, ambitious Capricorn whose Sun trines powerful Pluto, is not the type who can just sit around chillaxing. See Heather Mills McCartney's birth chart (Astrotheme, no birth time) I'm sure her Venus in Sagittarius sparked an initial opposite-sign attraction with Paul's four Gemini planets, and her Moon in Gemini may conjunct his Mercury and/or Sun, a good compatibility indicator. But there are some awkward aspects between Heather's chart and Paul's, like her Mars squaring his Saturn-Uranus in Gemini (which could trigger a lot of verbal sparring) and her Chiron in Pisces squaring his Sun, which might make her get down on him.

Right now, as retrograde Pluto in Sagittarius opposes Paul's Sun almost exactly, forming a T-square (three planets at 90° angles) with his Virgo Ascendant, he is going through a time of transformation; while the experience is particularly acute right now, this is a process that will take a course of years. With Linda gone, and the marriage he rushed into to fill the void unraveling, Paul has to figure out who he is as an individual. As a mutable Gemini Sun-Virgo Ascendant, he is used to having someone to bounce off, but perhaps now for the first time in his adult life he is being challenged to stand on his own two feet.

Further emphasizing the theme of transformation, Saturn is passing over Paul's Mars-Pluto conjunction, pruning away what is no longer constructive in his life. Robert Hand notes in his great astrology reference book Planets in Transit that "on a material level, this transit often causes financial problems or other kinds of shortages," and it looks like Heather may take him for a sweet chunk of his vast fortune. [Source] Why do I have to keep reminding people about the importance of the pre-nup?!)

Paul is really being challenged now, and will continue to be over the coming months as Saturn approaches his Moon and Pluto, again, continues to square his Sun. There are some tough lessons for him to learn now. But without a constant companion, he has the challenge of looking within and getting to know himself as he has never done before.

Gemini

Shoutout to all you Twins out there! The Sun enters Gemini at 1:31 AM Eastern Daylight Time Sunday, joining Mercury, Gemini's ruler, which just entered its own sign Friday afternoon. As far as I'm concerned, the reign of airy, mental energy will be a welcome change from the heavy earth-and-water mood of early May. Now, without further ado, here are the first of the Gemini celebrity birthdays:

Actress Fairuza Balk, of The Craft and a million other things, is 32. See Fairuza Balk's birth chart (Astrotheme, no birth time)

My homeboy the Notorious B.I.G., a.k.a. Biggie Smalls, would have been 34 today.

Lovably doofy actor Judge Reinhold turns 49 today. See Judge Reinhold's birth chart (Astrotheme)

Mr. T celebrates his 54th birthday today. Insert "pity the fool" joke here.

Comedian, author, radio host and hopefully the next senator from Minnesota, Al Franken, turns 55.

As my life revolves around watching old episodes of 90210 on SoapNet, I am delighted to announce that Mrs. Cindy Walsh herself, Carol Potter, turns 58 today. Have you noticed that Jennifer Love Hewitt has copied her haircut?

Atonement author Ian McEwan also turns 58 today. See Ian McEwan's birth chart (Astrotheme, no birth time)
