Gwyneth on Her Kids' Zodiac Signs

Gwyneth Paltrow is one celeb I would not have expected to believe in astrology. She just seems so Mr.-Spock chilly that you'd think she's one of those "rational" thinkers. (She was in a movie about math, fer Chrissakes.) But here's a cute quote from her revealing she understands that her daughter is ruled by Venus and her son by Mars:

Halle Berry's Baby Daughter's Birth Chart

Gentle readers, I know I'm a bit behind on the birthday posts (let me tell you, trying to buy an apartment in NYC is about the biggest time and energy drain ever), but I figured it would be more exciting to post a birth chart for Halle Berry's new baby daughter.

First of all, I must offer many congrats to Halle and Gabriel Aubry! Not only are they two of the most beautiful people on earth (can't wait to see this baby -- she might actually take Shiloh's Cutest Child Ever title!), but it seems that Halle is genuinely happy and settled after suffering ridiculously bad relationship luck, and we all know she has dreamed of motherhood forever, so I have nothing but warm-and-fuzzies for her despite my natural inclination to resent someone so beautiful and successful.

Anyhoo, the Gorgeous Ones' bundle of joy was, according to published reports, born Sunday, March 16, at 10:17 am in Los Angeles. (Thanks much to readers who wrote in with a heads-up, especially the always fabulously input-offering Reader T!) It has now been confirmed that her name is Nahla Ariela Aubrey. {Source} (Apparently Nahla means "honeybee" in Arabic, which I kind of love.) Without further ado, here is her birth chart:

J.Lo Gives Birth! The Twins' Astrological Charts

Congratulations and felicidades to Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony on the birth of their twins early this morning! (And thanks again to readers who tipped me off to the birth data!) Obviously, I had to take a look at their horosopes ASAP! And let me tell you, J.Lo and Marc's influence looms over these charts in a big way.

To my knowledge, the newborns' names have not been released, but as foreshadowed by the pink-and-blue shower theme, there is a girl and a boy. I'll update the charts and make them all pretty as soon as the names are released, but I wanted to get the charts up right away. Here you go...

First, let me just say that both twins have the Moon (representing the mother) in controlling Virgo, in the influential 10th house. J.Lo is going to rule these kids' lives with an iron fist -- not that that should come as any great shock to anyone.

Also, Saturn, representing the father, is in Virgo (Marc Anthony's Sun sign), closely conjunct the Midheaven (career goals). Marc will also have a strong formative influence in the twins' careers -- dragging them out on tour as a Donny-and-Marie-style sibling act, perhaps?

The fact that the Moon and Saturn are in the same sign show that the twins' parents will present very much a united front in the way they raise and discipline them. But Virgo suggests that while the kids will be well cared for, this will be an old-school sit-up-straight, mind-your-manners upbringing. We won't be seeing the Lopez-Anthony kids dancing on tables and getting DUIs in 18 years ... or on second thought, maybe they will with a vengeance.

I'll follow up soon when the twins are named. For now, I have a cake to transport to an undisclosed location.

The obligatory note on data sourcing: According to People.com, the girl was born at 12:12 AM EST, followed by her brother at 12:23 AM. {Source} Although the location was not officially disclosed by reps, according to multiple reports, J.Lo gave birth at the North Shore University Hospital, which is located in the town of Manhasset on Long Island, New York. Christina Aguilera's Son's Birth Chart

Um ... hi, everybody!

Much catching up to do, I know ... but without further ado, here's a birth chart for Christina Aguilera's firtborn son, Max Liron Bratman. He was born at 10:05 PM Saturday in L.A.

Still, I don't mean to sound ominous -- many congratulations and well wishes to the Bratman fam!

What Kind of Dad Will Larry Birkhead Be?

This post is long overdue, but judging from traffic and search results, it seems people are still very interested in Larry Birkhead and daughter Dannielynn, so I took a look at their two charts together. I must say, I've always thought Larry seemed like the most sincere of the lot of people competing for the infant, but I was a little concerned by some of the aspects between him and his daughter.

First, the good news: Larry's birth time is not known, but his Moon in Virgo is likely to fall on one of Dannielynn's Virgo planets: the Sun, Mercury, or Venus -- and/or possibly one of the asteroids, relationship-oriented Juno or nurturing Vesta. The doting Moon in Virgo suggests an attentive parent who is attuned to taking care of a child's needs. And Larry's Venus in grounded, paternal Capricorn forms a harmonious trine with Dannielynn's Virgo Sun and a sextile with her Jupiter in Scorpio.

But there could be a dark side to the sextile between Dannielynn's Jupiter in Scorpio (fortune through inheritance) and Larry's social-climbing Capricorn Venus, i.e. the potential for him to take advantage of her estate. Larry's Venus also sextiles Dannielynn's retrograde Uranus in Pisces, which tends to make their relationship rather volatile.

And there are other synastry aspects that are not so positive. Larry's Saturn squaring Dannielynn's Sun might be read as another paternal, protective aspect, but factor in his Mars-Saturn opposition forming a T-square with Dannielynn's Sun and there is a potential for him to vent some anger toward her.

Further, Larry's Sun on Dannielynn's Chiron could suggest the kind of parent who pushes her buttons, seeking out her weak spots to pick on them -- even if he thinks he is teaching her a lesson or doing her good. An out-of-sign trine between his Sun and her Mars reinforces the idea of tempers readily flaring up between them.

I sincerely hope that these aspects are just the signs of normal father-daughter rebellion and that the nurturing aspects of the Virgo Moon dynamic is what predominates in their relationship. But it might be that little Dannielynn grows up to have a troubled relationship with her dad -- which would be sadly understandable, considering the traumatic circumstances of her birth and formative days.

Is Eddie Murphy Mel B's Baby-Daddy?

Eddie Murphy was DNA-tested in Bev Hills Monday re: whether he is Scary Spice's baby-daddy, as was the baby girl in question, Angel Iris Murphy Brown. This reminded me to post a follow-up to my post on A.I.M.B.'s birth chart, analyzing her connections with Eddie's. As previously noted, Eddie and Mel B's baby daughter share a birthday, and the similarities between their horoscopes may shed some light on the question of paternity.

Serendipitously, TMZ just posted the infant's birth certificate, which shows a birth time of 00:11am (as reader Pluto noted that Us Weekly reported), so I have revised the birth chart to reflect this time. First of all, as with any two people who share a birthday, Eddie's and Angel's Suns are conjunct, in this case in Aries. See Eddie Murphy's birth chart (Astrotheme) This certainly indicates a certain core similarity to their personalities.

In this case, Eddie and Angel also have their Mercurys conjunct, in Pisces -- an aspect that is not common to all people with the same birthday. They have a similar way of thinking; with the mental connection in empathic Pisces, they may find that if and when they do establish a family relationship, they easily develop a deep, unspoken understanding -- even a sort of psychic bond.

In her natal chart, Angel Iris has Saturn, representing responsibility and the father principle, opposite delusionary Neptune and wounded Chiron. The lack of certainty regarding her paternity may bring A.I.M.B. a sense of rejection and hurt. Moreover, Eddie's natal Saturn at 28° Capricorn lies on Angel's Mars-Pluto midpoint; she may have a fair amount of anger toward him for the way he has failed to step up to the plate about being her dad. Despite -- or perhaps because of -- their similar personalities, Angel may lash out at Eddie or act out in defiance of his authority.

All that said, with her natal Saturn in Leo trine her powerful chart ruler, Jupiter in Sagittarius in the 1st house, suggests that her father (or, perhaps, his fame) may be a source of support and growth potential in Angel's life. Eddie has said that if the paternity test comes out positive, he will take responsibility for his daughter; perhaps it's yet possible for them to forge the genuine connection of kindred spirits that their Sun-Mercury conjunctions hint at. Their relationship may always be fraught with tension -- after all, this is two Aries butting heads we're talking about here -- but if they can get past the anger, they can touch each other's lives in a meaningful way.

Jaime Pressley's T-Square Son

My Name Is Earl star Jaime Pressley gave birth to a baby boy named Dezi James Calvo at 7:31 AM Friday morning (5/11/07) in Los Angeles, CA. { Source} Dad is some random guy whose attractiveness is in no way comparable to Jaime's.

Since I adore Earl and its message about karma (although the suspiciously high rate of Scientologist guest stars alarms me slightly), and think Jaime is hilarious as Joy, I thought I would take a quick peep at her firstborn's horoscope. (But yes, I know we're talking C-list here, so I'll keep it brief.)

Jaime's little one actually has kind of an intense chart, with a T-square, or three-way square, in fixed signs between the Taurus Sun, Saturn in Leo, and Chiron-Neptune in Aquarius. He'll be extremely tenacious and set in his ways -- possibly even resorting to self-destructive/escapist behavior if he doesn't get his way, with that Chiron-Neptune in the mix. He will be fiercely loyal, though, and with that Pisces Moon, willing to sacrifice for those he cares about.

The Jupiter-Uranus trine in mutable signs adds volatility; this kid's temper could come out in major outbursts (especially with Uranus loosely conjunct Mars). Good thing the Gemini Ascendant and Mercury will make it easier for him to express himself, rather than bottling up what he's thinking until it explodes in anger.

Jaime's got a handful on her hands -- but Dezi will definitely be a strong and passionate personality. Congratulations ... and good luck with this kid!

Mel B's Baby's Birth Chart

Now that Dannielynn's daddy has been IDed, Hollywood's hottest paternity case is that of little Angel Iris Murphy Brown, baby daughter of Melanie "Scary Spice" Brown and -- so her mama alleges -- Eddie Murphy. Eddie has denied being the dad, and Mel now says she is suing to force a paternity test. {Full story; second item} Until she succeeds, the infant's astrological chart will have to serve as Exhibit A in the Case of Who Sperminated Scary Spice.

A.I.M.B. was reportedly born "just after midnight" on Tuesday, April 3, 2007, in Santa Monica, California. {Source} Hence, I have cast a birth chart for 12:01 AM PDT.

Angelina's New Son: His Astrological Chart

Finally I've found a mention of the birth date of Angelina Jolie's new adopted son, Pax Thien Jolie. The British tabloid News of the World says he was born Nov. 29, 2003, in "a suburb of" Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. {Source} For now, I've calculated his chart for Ho Chi Minh City, but please let me know if anyone comes across the name of the actual town where he was born (or, of course, a birth time, though I'm not holding my breath). Hopefully Angelina will just get an arm tattoo of the latitude and longitude of Pax's birthplace, like she has with her other kids, and I can work from that!

With his Sun in Sagittarius, as well as a Mercury-Pluto conjunction there, Pax should fit right into this globe-trotting power family.

I wouldn't be surprised if the default sunrise chart was not far off from accurate, given the Moon-Neptune conjunction in Aquarius that describes both his unknown (and allegedly drug-addicted) biological mother and his humanitarian-superstar adoptive mother.

There are a couple of interesting connections between Pax's chart and that of his parents (I'm including presumed future papa Brad Pitt), but they will have to wait, as I am turning in at an ungodly early hour (by my standards) tonight, having come down with a bad case of the exhaustion epidemic due to my poor-man's-Lindsay-Lohan lifestyle. Heidi and Seal's New Son's Horoscope

Mazel tov, felicidades and much joy to Heidi Klum and Seal, proud parents of a new son, Johan Riley Fyodor Taiwo Samuel, born at 5:01 PM PST in Los Angeles on November 22. {Source} As previously noted, I find my heartstrings irresistibly tugged by the sickeningly perfect perfection of the adorable Klum-Seal family even as I want to hate them for it. Now that they have posted a birth announcement clearly stating their child's time of birth, thereby making my job that much easier, my endearment toward them knows no bounds. I'm even willing to overlook the ridiculous name. Thus overflowing with goodwill and primary-source data, I simply had to check out young JRFTS's astrological chart.

Johan is an interesting lad, definitely a Sagittarius citizen of the world—no surprise given his international family. But the free-spirited Sagittarian energy is intermingled with a strong current of Scorpio intensity. Three planets, Mercury, Mars, and Jupiter, are in Scorpio, and the Sagittarius Sun is in an out-of-sign conjunction with its ruler, Jupiter, in the critical 29th degree of Scorpio. Jupiter is in mutual reception with Pluto in Sagittarius, which in turn is in a conjunction with the Moon that, at 10", is tighter than the skin on Nicole Kidman's forehead. With his Scorpio and Sag planets so closely bound up with each other, Johan will be fiercely passionate about his beliefs and ideology.

With Saturn in the 4th house, papa Seal might well play a more nurturing, domestic parental role while Heidi is more the disciplinarian. (A German, authoritarian? Whaaaa?) But at the same time, with Johan's Moon-Pluto in Sag, she will be a playful, fun mom to him, as well as a teacher/guru who opens up new horizons of life experience to her son.

Heidi's Sun at 10° Gemini is close to Johan's Ascendant, which rules outward appearance; this would confirm Seal's claim that the baby "looks just like his mother." With Neptune on the Aquarius Midheaven (career goals), Johan might well aspire to fame and media attention of the sort enjoyed by his supermodel mom and singer dad. Madonna's Adopted Son: An Astrological Fit With His New Family?

Can astrology shed some light on the controversy over Madonna's adoption of 1-year-old Malawi David Banda? Familial relationships, both biological and adoptive, are often revealed in the birth chart by resonance between two family members' horoscopes. (An interesting article theorizing on horoscopic "inheritance" can be found on Astrokrishna's blog.) So perhaps David's natal chart contains some insight into his relationship with his new adoptive parents, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Ritchie. Does his destiny lie with his new family, or would he have been better off in his homeland with his biological father?

Sad to say, the conflict in David's young life is readily apparent in his natal chart. A T-square, or T-shaped configuration, between Venus, Saturn and Neptune (or a grand cross, if you count Mars, which is slightly out of orb) creates a sense of being pulled in different directions. Pursuing one's path may be difficult with this configuration. David may struggle to overcome a sense of being deadlocked as conflicting forces are at odds within him.

More pressure is found in the yod, or "finger of God" configuration, formed in David's horoscope between Mercury, Saturn and Uranus. David may struggle to express himself within the confines of the structure in which he is raised, and could manifest his pent-up frustration (or turn it self-destructively inward) in an outburst via volatile Uranus in Pisces.

These issues notwithstanding, there are some interesting contacts between Madonna's horoscope and her new adopted son's. Both their Jupiters are conjunct in Libra while both their Mars are loosely conjunct in Taurus. Madonna may be a conduit for opportunities for David to broaden his horizons and pursue his ideals. As David's Uranus sits right on the cusp of Madonna's 7th house of partnership, I can't help but be concerned that the chaos ensuing from his entry into the family could disrupt her marriage. David's Sun forms an out-of-sign conjunction to Guy Ritchie's Uranus, which could suggest that the young boy will push his adoptive dad's buttons. See Guy Ritchie's birth chart (Astrotheme, no birth time) But with his Saturn opposite David's Jupiter, Guy can provide the structure of a paternal force for the young lad; though he may be repressive in some ways, he will be determined to help establish the foundation for David to pursue his dreams.

David may find a strong family ally in big sister and fellow Libra Lourdes, whose Moon in Scorpio conjuncts David's Venus while her Venus in Virgo sextiles it. Look for Lola to be fiercely protective of her new little bro, assuming a close caretaker bond with him. While David may have some challenges ahead (don't we all), it doesn't seem like his new adoptive family will screw him up any more than anyone else's family does. I hope for the sake of all concerned that the adoption situation is resolved quickly and smoothly so that David's life is not disrupted by further transitions and tugs-of-war. The sooner he achieves equilibrium, the better off this little Libra will be.

Madonna's Adopted Son: His Astrological Chart

With all the controversy around Madonna and Guy Ritchie's adoption of a Malawi boy named David Banda (Ciccone Ritchie), I thought it would be interesting to take a look at the tot's birth chart and find out how he fits in with his new family unit... or doesn't.

First, a note on birth data: As you might imagine, it is not so easy to get access to comprehensive birth records for impoverished Third World peoples from tiny rural villages. Wikipedia gives David's date of birth as September 24, 2005 {Source}, but does not narrow down a town of birth in Malawi. According to the Daily Telegraph, David comes from a village called Lipunga on the border with Zambia but was technically born in Zambia {Source}, but absent any mention of the name of the Zambian village, I have used Lipunga as the birthplace. If anyone comes across more details or different information, please email me or post a comment.

A full reading of David's chart will be forthcoming, along with an analysis of his relationship to his new parents and the current transits stirring up controversy in Madonna's life. But for now, here's David's natal chart to chew on....

UPDATE: Britney's Baby's Real Name and Birth Chart

Whoo-hoo! A birth certificate has finally settled the many rumors about Britney Spears' second son not being named Sutton Pierce or not even being a boy. In fact, Britney's infant is named Jayden James Federline, indeed sports a Y chromosome, and was born at 1:11 AM in Los Angeles on September 12 {Source: TMZ}. Now that's what I like to see—official documents confirming birth data! Big ups to TMZ!

Apart from my annoyance at having to redo the birth chart, which I originally calculated for 2:00 AM per media reports (imminent Mercury retrograde, anyone?), I must admit I am relieved that Britney did not actually give both her sons the initials SPF, as I was beginning to worry that she considered that some sort of magical nomenclatural substitute for actually covering up her babies when she takes them out in the sun. Anyway, here is the birth chart with the corrected name and time:

Little JJF's chart is not substantively different from the one with the 2:00 am birth time analyzed last month. Sensitive Cancer is still on the Ascendant and the Moon is in loyal, nurturing Taurus. The North Node moves to the Pisces Midheaven, which bodes well for his professional success in a creative and/or spiritual field and suggests that there may be a karmic mission entwined with his career path.

Venus' move to the 3rd house will make him a bit more social and his relationships a little more changeable, mitigating the clingy tendencies of the Taurus Moon; but then, Mercury and Mars in the 4th house suggest a shy homebody with his nose buried in a book. His Sun conjunct the Sun and Mercury of fellow Virgo sib Sean Preston (shown with Mom and Dad Kevin Federline above) indicates the brothers will have a close identification, though, like all close siblings, they may rip each other to shreds while jockeying for position and for points of differentiation.

As I mentioned previously, Jayden James may have a tendency to cling to his mother for comfort with that 4th-house emphasis. He will certainly be perceptive and attuned to others' feelings, perhaps worrying about them too much with Mercury at 29° Virgo.

One mildly worrisome point of note is that the earlier birth time makes the grand cross in Jayden's chart tighter by a degree or so than the 2:00 AM time did. As discussed previously, this configuration creates a lot of stress in Jayden's life, related to his parents and their larger-than-life celebrity image. But the North Node–Midheaven conjunction gives me hope that Jayden will choose to go down a different path; rather than trying to compete with or live up to his famous parents' glamour (uh, such as it is) and material success, he may decide to pursue a life of asceticism and service, in which success is defined by how many lives he can touch and transform. Flash forward 18 years, when J.J. and Shiloh Jolie-Pitt spot each other across a crowded Peace Corps tent.... Can't wait!

A Pisces Baby for Tori Spelling?

Congratulations to Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott on their happy announcement of Tori's pregnancy. I know, I know, I've expressed some misgivings about Tori's reported failure to make her Scorpio second hubby sign a pre-nup, but I also believe this opposite-sign couple has strong chemistry and they do seem to be darned happy.

So, what sign will the offspring of these Taurus-Scorpio parents be? I was sort of hoping the baby was on target to be a Taurus like Tori and her late dad Aaron, especially when I heard Tori was planning to name the baby Aaron if it's a boy {Source}. But, according to Celebrity Baby Blog, Tori was 15 weeks along as of an October 12 sighting {Source}. According to Senior Bumpanalysist Karen, this means Tori has about 25 weeks left to go in her pregnancy, which would put her due date around March 2.

A baby born around this time would be a Pisces, an old soul prepared to shoulder the karmic load of being named for such a world-historical figure. Perhaps the compassion, empathy and spiritual evolution personified by this Pisces child could spread to Tori and her estranged mom Candy, with shared love for little Aaron Jr. (ugh, you just know they're going to call him A.J.) healing their emotional wounds. Let's hope so!

Sutton Pierce Federline's Natal Chart

Presenting the astrological birth chart for Britney Spears' second son, SPF II, brother of Sean Preston, fourth (!!!) spawn of K-Fed, a.k.a. Sutton Pierce Federline!

Thank God Britney did not make good on her threat to run off and give birth in Namibia, so her baby was born in a nice, unambiguous time zone. Media accounts have Sutton Pierce entering the world around 2:00 AM on September 12 [edited from Sept. 13, which was a typo; the chart was actually cast for the 12th] in L.A. {Source}This gives him a Cancer Ascendant that forms nice sextiles to his Virgo Sun and Taurus Moon.

But honestly, I am a little worried about this kid. With that Cancer Ascendant and his Sun, Mercury and Venus in Virgo, young Sutton is a sensitive soul with a tendency to be anxious and high-strung. His Sun's opposition to Uranus makes Sutton emotionally volatile, prone to picking up on other people's emotional energy and getting out of control.

What really troubles me, though, is the daunting grand cross between the Moon (emotions and the mother), Jupiter (growth and expansion), Saturn (responsibilities and the father), and Neptune (fantasies, ideals and delusions). It would seem that SPF II's larger-than-life, um, life, and the grandiose images posed by his parents, could set up some major obstacles for him in terms of fulfilling his own dreams. When this kid gets reality-checked, it could come down on him hard.

Interestingly, both of Britney's sons' Suns fall in her natal 12th house, suggesting that they play a backstage role in her life. See Britney Spears' birth chart (Astrotheme) She has already spoken of her desire for Sean to have a sibling to keep him company when she brings him along on tour (which is a lot like the logic people use in deciding to get a second cat because they're gone during the day, rather than have a second child, but whatever). With his Sun, Mercury, Venus and Mars all in Britney's 12th house, it could be a challenge for Sutton to come out from behind the scenes and find his own way. Sutton's Mars conjuncts his 4th house cusp, suggesting that he might stay close to home and cling to family ties. (I would have said cling to his mother's apron strings, but it's a bit hard to picture Brit Brit in an apron.)

His Virgo planets, Taurus Moon and Cancer Ascendant make Sutton caring, nurturing and concerned about other people. Hopefully he will be able to tap into these qualities without developing a tendency to take care of others' needs at the expense of his own. With that grand cross configuration, he does have some struggles ahead. And if his parents would appear to be part of the problem, at least they—well, at least Britney—can afford to get him therapy.

Kristy Swanson and Lloyd Eisler Are Expecting an Aquarius Baby!!!

OMG, OMG, OMG! As faithful readers know, I am obsessed with figure skating, obsessed with celebrities and obsessed with Buffy the Vampire Slayer. So I was pretty much over the moon about Skating with Celebrities, starring O.G. Buffy Kristy Swanson. And I was even further (closer?) beside myself when it turned out that Kristy's superhot on-ice chemistry with partner and eventual co-winner Lloyd Eisler was extending beyond the rink. (Yeah, yeah, I know, he left his pregnant wife and kid for her. These things happen. This is O.G. Buffy we're talking about here, people. Don't hate!) And now comes the delicious icing-on-the-cake word that the rumors are true. Kristy and Lloyd are expecting a baby! {Source: CBB}

As I reported back in February when the news of the hookup broke, Kristy, a Sagittarius, and Lloyd, a Taurus, are not traditionally the best match. But, fortuitously, Kristy has a Taurus Moon, which makes for a nice connection in a romantic relationship. (Traditionally, a man's Moon in a woman's Sun sign is supposed to be the ideal, but I'm all about Sun-Moon connections making a couple compatible regardless of how they map out gender-wise.){Read the full story on Kristy and Lloyd's romantic compatibility} The baby is due on Valentine's Day, 2007, making him/her an Aquarius.

Adding a little air to the mix (Aquarius is the water-bearer but an air sign; it's a common misconception that Aquarius is a water sign) should make things even more interesting for this earth-fire couple. Unconventional Aquarius is typically more simpatico with free-spirited fire sign Sagittarius than with stable earth sign Taurus, so the baby may have more in common with mama Kristy than with daddy Lloyd.

Given their Sun signs, these two might actually reverse gender roles when it comes to parenting. With his nurturing Taurus Sun and Cancer Moon, Lloyd might be the one who's home baking cookies and tending the vegetable garden, while Sagittarian Kristy is the one who takes the kid out to the park to toss the ball around.

With a vampire slayer for a mom and a figure skater for a dad, this child is going to turn out to be one cool little Aquarius. I heartily encourage everyone to put aside the hateration and congratulate this cute couple on their forthcoming Aquarian addition to the fam!

Does Suri Cruise Exist? The Plot Thickens

The saga of so-called Suri Cruise just keeps getting weirder and weirder. It's a conspiracy theorist's delight! The vigilant folks at TMZ have obtained a birth certificate for Suri and, in a fitting discovery for a Mercury retrograde, revealed that there was a mysterious delay in filing it—plus the signature was by a "friend" rather than either Tom or Katie. Weird! {Source}

Perhaps even more importantly for our purposes, this birth certificate, as a couple of sharp-eyed readers were kind enough to point out to me, lists a birth time for Suri of 3:26 AM. {Source} This means, as reader L. noted, that Neptune's conjunction to the Ascendant, which, as I have discussed, describes the veil of deception surrounding her birth, now comes from the 12th house rather than the 1st house. ~ See Suri Cruise's birth chart (Exclusive to CelebAstroBlogy ~ UPDATED 7/15/06 with revised birth time)

With this corrected birth time, the Neptune-Ascendant conjunction is actually a couple of degrees tighter, and coming from the 12th house, it describes the mystery surrounding Suri perhaps even more fittingly. The secretive 12th house symbolizes the dissolution of the self into nebulousness and mystery. After living in the media glare (Neptune in Aquarius) prior to her birth (Ascendant), Suri seemed to simply fade away into the ether.

The 12th house is also associated with institutions of confinement, like hospitals and prisons, and Suri (if indeed she exists) would certainly seem to have been quarantined or sequestered from the world. (Could she perhaps have been born with some condition that Scientology doesn't believe in treating?!)

Another interesting feature of the adjusted birth time is that Venus and Uranus in Pisces are now intercepted in the 1st house. Planets in an intercepted sign are stifled, with no natural outlet for their energy. The Venus-Uranus conjunction, which is extremely tight, suggests unconventional relationships. With the interception, Suri (if she exists at all) may feel isolated and alienated, unable to form relationships or made to feel like a freak if she expresses affection. Or this placement could be an indication, again, that Suri exists in some sort of bizarro fantasy world beyond the reach of other humans.

This issue is surfacing again now as Neptune retrogrades over its position in Suri's natal chart. Once Neptune turns direct, it will make another pass over its natal position on Feb. 8, 2007 and continue to hover around Suri's Ascendant before crossing it in February 2008. We might have to wait another year and a half before seeing this child, or learning the truth about her!

Mariska Hargitay Has a Baby Boy

I don't even understand my own interest in Law & Order: SVU actress Mariska Hargitay, but I have a strange place in my heart for her. Maybe it's that I feel for her having famously witnessed the shocking and tragic death of her mother, Jayne Mansfield, as a child, and applaud her going on to lead such a happy and successful life. Maybe it's that she's so good at portraying a tough, butchy cop with a dark backstory on TV (mirroring her own real-life maternal drama, she plays a child of rape who went on to be a sex-crimes cop) and then seems so cute and sunny in real life in her pretty, flowery maternity dresses. Seriously, I don't know what it is, but Mariska was one cute pregnant woman.

Now that she has given birth to her first son (name unconfirmed as of, um, press time*) almost 40 years to the day after her mother's death, I am ridiculously happy for her. The coincidence of the dates seems like a symbol of the circle of life; with the birth of her own child, it's like Mariska's triumph over tragedy is on some level complete. {Source ~ thanks to Celebrity Baby Blog poster Emily for pointing out that today is the anniversary of Jayne's death.} On this joyous occasion, I thought I'd take a quick peep at Mariska's horoscope.

Mariska's Sun-Mars conjunction in Aquarius in the 1st house describes that vaguely butchy-androgynous vibe (Mars embodies the masculine principle in both men's and women's charts), while the Capricorn Ascendant fits her tough, serious image on SVU. ~ See Mariska Hargitay's birth chart (Astrotheme)

Her Moon (representing the mother) is exalted in Taurus but forms a difficult T-square with Saturn in Aquarius and Neptune in Scorpio. The Moon-Neptune opposition represents Jayne's status as an iconic sex symbol as well as the mystery and sensation surrounding her death, while Saturn speaks to the hardship and alienation Mariska must have felt losing her mother in such a public (Aquarius) way.

Further reflecting the pain in Mariska's past is the conjunction of Venus (relationships) in Chiron (wounding) in sensitive Pisces (the subconscious) in the 2nd house, opposing the volatile, powerful Uranus-Pluto conjunction in Virgo in the 8th house of loss and change. The stability and security that a Taurus Moon native like Mariska needs can be tenuous; in the back of her mind may be fears that anyone or anything she counts on for emotional support will be yanked out from under her. But with her strong Sun-Mars conjunction in fixed Aquarius and resilient, determined Capricorn Ascendant, Mariska has obviously not let the past hold her back.

Her new son has his Moon, representing the mother, in fiercely loyal Leo, possibly conjunct Saturn or Mars* and opposing Mariska's Sun-Mars. His Cancer Sun trines Mariska's Venus, while his Venus in Gemini trines her Sun-Mars. There will be a powerful bond between mother and child, with the Leo Moon describing her passionate protectiveness. While transiting Chiron passing over Mariska's Mars speaks to a lingering sense of pain over the anniversary of her mother's death, the T-square with Jupiter in Scorpio and Saturn in Leo suggests a deep, powerful process of growth and transformation spurred by her son's birth. Nurturing a new life is perhaps finally allowing her to fully heal.

There is also a possible physical manifestation of these aspects. I've found that transiting Chiron is prominent in the charts of women when they have C-sections (see also: Angelina Jolie), and indeed, Mariska required a Caesarean to bring her almost-11-pound (!!!) son into the world. I have to say I'm a little worried about her postpartum recovery with transiting Chiron on her 1st-house Mars being opposed by transiting Saturn. With that Mars-Saturn opposition, she should take it really easy in her recovery and not push herself to be up and about too soon. Hopefully Saturn in Mariska's 7th house of partnership means that she is leaning on her husband Peter Hermann to be her rock and take care of everything for her, rather than signifying pressure and stress on the relationship due to the new arrival.

Does Suri Cruise Really Exist?

When I first analyzed Suri Cruise's birth horoscope {See Suri Cruise's birth chart ~ Exclusive to Celeb AstroBlogy} back in April, I noted the presence of Neptune on her Ascendant* and observed:

Suri has Aquarius, sign of the public and mass communication (including the Internet) rising.* The rising sign, or Ascendant, describes a person's outer appearance or the face they project to the world, as well as the birth and start of life. With Neptune, the planet of fantasy and illusion, in Aquarius (again, the sign of mass communication) conjuncting the Ascendant,* there is a veil of mystery or deception cloaking the circumstances of Suri's birth and true identity.... (Perhaps incidentally, Neptune is often prominent in the birth charts of people who are adopted.) {Source}

Well, folks, that was two months ago, and so far Suri has projected no face at all to the world. In the past few weeks, Kingston Rossdale has taken up tennis, Shiloh Jolie-Pitt has modeled for magazine covers and even friggin' Mira Sorvino's D-list baby has made his appearance. Yet the spawn of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes has made nary a peep, negotiated no photo rights deals, nor even emerged as a mass of swaddling blankets. The nebulous Neptune-Ascendant aspect seems more apt by the day. At this point people are starting to wonder: Does Suri really exist? Are the conspiracy theories about Katie's pregnancy being a sham actually true?

There certainly is a cloud around Suri's true nature in her birth chart, and suggestions of her identity being ephemeral or intangible. In addition to Neptune in Aquarius on the Ascendant, Suri also has Venus conjunct unpredictable Uranus in Neptune-ruled Pisces in her 1st house.* When two planets are in the sign the other rules, as Uranus and Neptune are in Suri's chart (and in effect in the heavens from 2003–2008) they are said to be in "mutual reception,", vibing with and strengthening each other. Obviously Aquarius (the public, the media, mass communication) and Pisces (deception, delusion, fantasy) are interwoven in Suri's chart, if indeed she exists. "Suri" may actually be short for "surreal."

Venus conjunct Uranus hints at something very unconventional and unexpected about the relationships in her life, particularly with women. The Moon, representing emotions and the mother, is conjunct secretive Pluto, perhaps echoing this theme. Could Suri herself be the secret, the unexpected female, in the sense of being nonexistent, or being a baby-for-hire that her parents are now scrambling to obtain and reveal to the world?

Tom Cruise's own horoscope may hold some hints. Tom also has Neptune prominent in his chart, as it squares his Saturn, trines (and rules) his Jupiter-Chiron, inconjuncts his Sun and sextiles his Pluto. See Tom Cruise's birth chart (Astrotheme)

Right now, transiting Jupiter is conjuncting Tom's natal Neptune, while being squared by the transiting Mars-Saturn conjunction on his Leo Moon. The element of Neptune-ruled deception is taking up more and more of his life, but he is feeling a lot of emotional pressure to express how he really feels. He may be locked into a certain M.O. that he is now bursting to break free from.

Meanwhile, Uranus has just passed Tom's Jupiter-Chiron in Neptune-ruled Pisces and is about to retrograde back over them, which could augur the sudden exposure of a deep, dark, painful secret...some skeleton in Tom's *cough* closet. A revelation could come in early September, when Uranus touches Tom's Jupiter, or around November 20 when Uranus stations right on Tom's Chiron. A final window for an "I am what I am" epiphany comes in late January 2007, when direct Uranus makes its last pass over Tom's Jupiter.

So, as with the so-called "moon" "landing," we may never know for sure whether Suri's birth was a purely Hollywood-concocted event. But it does seem like cracks are showing in the facade of the Neptunian world of illusion Tom has created around himself. Perhaps Katie will build up a tolerance to the horse tranquilizers and appetite suppressants they've been pumping her full of, and finally crack under the pressure of living the lie. When Neptune is involved, we can always dream....

Mira Sorvino's New Baby

Does anyone care about Mira Sorvino's new baby son by her pool boy, or whoever the hell it is she married? I sure as hell don't, but since she shared his birth time with OK!, I thought, hell, it should be posted on the Interwebs for posterity.

Johnny Christopher King Backus was born "by 5:50 PM," according to Mira, on May 29, 2006, at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in L.A. So quoth the U.S. edition of OK! on page 50 of its June 26, 2006 issue. (Note to Mira regarding the haggard accompanying spread: You actually can lighten your hair after the first trimester of pregnancy. So there's really no excuse for those roots, hon.)

If anyone cares to do little Johnny's birth chart, knock yourself out, and feel free to post a comment with your insights. I personally can't be bothered. But perhaps this information could be put to use in a vast database of celebrity baby birth data to predict the next generation of celebrity hookups.
