Another Baby for Angelina?

The proverbial mill is abuzz with rumors that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt will adopt a fourth child in India, where they are currently filming, or perhaps even have another biological child.

Jupiter entered Angelina's 5th house of offspring on October 24. Associated with both expansion and good fortune, Jupiter can augur a pregnancy when it moves to this house. With the number of planets in Scorpio about to pass through Angie's 5th house in the next month, this area of her life will be strongly highlighted; if she doesn't already have the overpowering urge for another child, she will soon. Given the immediacy of the transits through Angelina's 5th house, and the Scorpio emphasis suggestive of power machinations and negotiations, my guess would be that an adoption, not a biological birth, is in the works. Angelina and Brad may be working behind the scenes to pull some strings and expedite the adoption process. The only catch is, with Mercury retrograding through Scorpio (currently sitting on the cusp of Angie's 5th house, about to backslide into her 4th house of family and home), there is a high likelihood that the paperwork could hit some snags. The kinks will not be worked out and the adoption not finalized at least until December 5th, when then-direct Mercury has emerged from its retrograde shadow and once again crossed the cusp of Angelina's 5th house.

Meanwhile, Mercury and Jupiter are in Brad's 12th house of secrets and self-undoing. Is he harboring hidden fears about bringing a new child into the family? Transiting retrograde Uranus is directly conjunct Brad's natal Chiron, suggesting that the upheaval and sense of chaos in his life may be opening up some old wounds. As Neptune creeps up to a conjunction with his Saturn, there is a strong urge to gloss over realities that he would rather not face. It may be easier for Brad to pretend he is living in a Hollywood fairy tale than to engage with what is really happening in his life.

With his natal Jupiter in Aries in the 4th house, Brad is definitely the type of person who's down with impulsively adding people to his household the way other people pick up souvenirs on vacation. But with all his Sagittarius and Capricorn planets, Brad is also very driven and focused on his own goals and dreams. Giving so much emotional energy in so many realms of his life may be wearing Brad down; does he possess the psychic reserves to care for yet another child so soon after the birth of Shiloh? Hopefully Jupiter's Thanksgiving entry into Sagittarius will provide a sort of second wind, renewing Brad's natural Sag optimism and enthusiasm for life, whatever it brings.

Astrology and the Anna Nicole Saga, Part III: Neptune and Anna's Hospitalization

Not since the days of Oedipus Rex or at least Melrose Place has such a twisted family drama unfolded in the public eye. But this is no fictional or archetypal tale; the saga of Anna Nicole Smith and her loved ones and lackeys is definitely filed under Y for "You can't make this stuff up, people." Just as almost five minutes had passed without Anna doing anything scandalous or bizarre, she ended up in the hospital—according to her lawyer, for a bout of alleged "pneumonia" brought on by a "cold snap." {Source} Oh, okay. Because, you know, those "cold snaps" in the Bahamas can really be brutal. What?!

Now, I am not a doctor. But judging from a look at the transits to Anna Nicole's astrological chart, there are reasons to suspect that she was felled by more than germs.

Right now, retrograde Mercury in Scorpio joins Jupiter in conjuncting Anna Nicole's natal Neptune. Feel-good Jupiter passing over Neptune, the planet associated with addiction and delusion, can invite a tendency to self-medicate and escape reality. There's not a lot of self-control involved where Jupiter is concerned. Saturn is moving into an exact square with her Neptune, generating feelings of confusion, stress and lack of direction (and potential health problems). Anna feels like she has been floundering, and may be gratifying all her urges six ways till Sunday in order to avoid confronting harsh reality. Factor in the element of miscalculation associated with Mercury retrograde and two letters of the alphabet come to mind: O and D.

Again, I am not a doctor, and I have not "treated" Anna Nicole, and it would certainly be spurious to suggest that her hospital stay was prompted by, say, a cocktail of prescription and/or nonprescription drugs ingested under the care of a sleazy lawyer rather than a doctor. All I'm saying is that transiting Neptune has been squaring Anna Nicole's Mercury for many moons now, and there is definitely an escapist mentality dominating her consciousness, or rather semiconsciousness. Anna appears to be looking to blot out reality or already living in a dream world. With Saturn squaring Neptune, further reality checks could be handed to Anna Nicole if she doesn't get her act together and take her own initiative to get back in touch with the real world. That said, if a hospitalization, possible deportation and above all her son Daniel's death don't serve as wake-up calls, I'm not sure what will.

Heather Mills McCartney's Horoscope: A Horror Story?

Since Halloween is all about witches, it seems only fitting today to stir up the cauldron that is Heather Mills McCartney's horoscope. As her vicious accusations against poor Sir Paul become uglier and more outlandish by the day (violent and a pothead? Someone's not doing the math here....), part of me actually feels guilty for feeling such venom toward her. I mean, what if she really is telling the truth and was a victim? But the thing is, I just don't see Heather being credible. So I took a look at her chart to back up my hunch that she is not operating on the level. With six planets in mutable signs, Heather certainly seems to be someone who can shift her frame of reference to manipulate a situation.

Mars in Pisces opposing Jupiter gives Heather a tendency to act like a victim and blow her emotional wounds out of proportion. Depending on the time she was born, Heather's Moon in emotionally changeable (some would say two-faced) Gemini could draw Mars and Jupiter into a mutable grand cross with Venus, the relationship planet, in Sagittarius. Even if all four planets are not within orb of aspect, a picture emerges from Heather's chart of someone who changes her mood and mind on a dime. With her can-do Capricorn Sun and rational Mercury in Aquarius, Heather possesses a solid, canny core personality ... but when it comes to relationships, she is all over the map. If her Gemini Moon indeed opposes Venus and squares exaggeration-prone Jupiter, I would not put it past her to stretch the truth or manipulate reality in order to get what she wants in relationships. And what she wants may be fleeting indeed; with Venus in Sag, it's all about the thrill of the chase.

Also in Heather's chart, Uranus is retrograde at the critical degree of 29° Virgo, giving her personality a volatile edge. Uranus is in mutual reception with, and forms an almost exact out-of-sign trine to, her Mercury in Aquarius. When Mercury and Uranus act in concert in a person's birth chart, verbal outbursts are extremely likely. With that critical 29th degree involved, there is a sense of urgency to her communications; that cool, rational Aquarian mind is unusually likely to get overheated. In all fairness, with Mars-Pluto and Moon-Chiron conjunctions in Leo, Paul certainly has a tendency toward a temper himself; I don't doubt he also fanned the flames of their arguments. Paul himself has five mutable planets, and between the two of them, neither he nor Heather would seem to have enough in the way of a grounding, stabilizing influence to nip an argument in the bud or step back from a full-blown blowout. So surely Heather has at least some ammunition on her side in her accusations about Paul's temper. But at the same time, she is certainly capable of distorting and exaggerating the truth. I'm going to go ahead and stand by my hatred of her and my fervent wish that Paul find happiness with Olivia Newton-John. Believe in the dream!

Reese and Ryan: Separated by Uranus?

It's official: There is no hope for the rest of us! It is with deep sadness and concern for the present and future state of human relationships that I inform you Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe are separating. {Source} As I previously reported, the dynamic between an Aries (Reese) and a Virgo (Ryan) does not traditionally make for a good romantic match. But pressures have been mounting for this couple for some time. Back in March, I wrote:

There have been some trouble spots for the marriage lately as Uranus in Pisces recently passed over Reese's Venus and is now headed toward Ryan's Jupiter. In both of them, this could bring urges to make a sudden break, disrupting existing relationships that suddenly feel stifling. {Full story}

At the time, I opined that Uranus would not be a dealbreaker and Reese and Ryan would stick it out at least until late next year. But news of the separation comes as retrograde Uranus is preparing to station and turn direct just over a degree away from Reese's Venus (three degrees from Ryan's Jupiter). In an interesting converse aspect, transiting Venus in Scorpio is also about to cross Reese's natal Uranus.

Meanwhile, Jupiter in Scorpio squares Reese's Saturn, generating further enthusiasm for breaking free of the confines of her life's current structure. Reese may have felt that in order to grow in the long term, she needed to jump ship now. With all that Venus-Uranus energy building in the run-up to the Uranus station, Reese was ready to cut loose. I definitely see her being the initiator of the breakup while Ryan, with Uranus on his Jupiter, just feels like his luck has turned in a way that's out of his control.

As much as I wanted these two to defy the odds for Aries-Virgo couples, ultimately they are operating on two totally different wavelengths... even if they did make beautiful babies together. Hopefully the transformational energy that attends the current pile-up of planets in Scorpio will be cathartic for Reese and Ryan as they prepare to shed their old lives and start over. Seriously, though, what hope is there for the rest of us?!?!
