Happy Birthday, Drew Barrymore!

Happy 33rd birthday to Pisces dreamer Drew Barrymore!

Last year on her birthday, I predicted that a new love would come into her life sometime around mid-October '07. I was a little off, since she took up with her Mac man in September. But they certainly seem to be sickeningly happy together, and although Drew has a notorious rep as a serial sickeningly-happy monogamist, I wish those two crazy kids the best.

(BTW, Justin Long is a Gemini, perhaps not the most stable partner for fellow mutable sign Drew, but hey, they're having fun. See Justin Long's birth chart (Astrotheme, no birth time))

I'd spend more time forecasting Drew's year, but I think we all know I have two very important celebrity baby charts to get to! If anyone is interested in reading a full compatibility report on Drew and Justin, please let me know. For now, many happy returns, Miss B... and now, onward and forward!

Juno (the Asteroid) and Ellen Page's Oscar Odds

The Oscars are of course fast approaching, and while a full predictive report on all the categories would be way too time-consuming (believe me, I tried it), I thought it would be fun to take a look at nominated ingenue Ellen Page's horoscope, because (a) today is her birthday; (b) her titular character in Juno is named after an astrologically significant asteroid; and (c) she is freakin' adorable.

Interestingly, the asteroid Juno is all about intimate relationships and figuring out what one needs from them -- which is very much the theme of the film of the same name, in which characters navigate what they need, want, and don't from their significant others.

In Ellen's natal horoscope, Juno, perhaps unsurprisingly, forms a couple of aspects: It is semisextile her Sun (ego, personality) and square her Mars (drive), both within a degree. See Ellen Page's birth chart (Astrotheme, no birth time)

Currently, transiting Venus in Aquarius (which rules one's public perception, and the mass media) has just passed over Ellen's natal Juno, while transiting Juno in free-spirit Sagittarius has just passed over her natal Saturn. Could this perhaps augur reward and recognition for her role?

Certainly having her birthday so close to the Oscars ceremony can't hurt her chances, since she is being energized by her Solar Return. Moreover, fortunate Jupiter is approaching a conjunction with her natal Venus, a favorable aspect indeed. Transiting Saturn opposite her natal Sun could limit her potential for achievement now, but it is just possible that she could score a surprise win. If nothing else, Ellen has gotten a lot of attention that should bring her plenty of career opportunities (Jupiter in Capricorn transiting her Venus). She's already landed a role starring in a film directed by fellow Pisces Drew Barrymore, whose birthday is tomorrow. (Not only are their Pisces Suns conjunct, but Drew's Jupiter in Pisces conjuncts Ellen's Venus-Jupiter conjunction, describing the fortunate opportunity that Drew is bestowing on the younger actress.)

So, Ellen's future looks pretty bright, even if she doesn't snag the Oscar. And of course, on Sunday night, she is bound to look freakin' adorable.

Will Drew Barrymore Find Love This Year?

Miss Drew Barrymore turns 32 years old today. A classic Pisces with her dreamy, whimsical personality, spiritually sensitive "old soul" quality and of course her famous tendency toward addiction, Drew has successfully battled many of the demons hinted at in her horoscope.

This birthday finds Drew in a pretty good place. Despite her recent breakup with Strokes drummer Fabrizio Moretti, romantic opportunities are on the horizon.

Jupiter is about to cross Drew's 7th-house cusp on March 14, bringing her good luck in love -- although it will retrograde back into her 6th in late April and remain there until the end of October. During this period Drew may be doing some reevaluation of what she is looking for in a partner. (I wouldn't rule out a reunion with Fab, though not a permanent one.) After Jupiter's late-October re-entry into Drew's 7th house, she will likely be ready to let someone new into her life.

Drew Barrymore: A Look Back

Today is Miss Drew Barrymore's 31st birthday. (BTW, nobody else good was born today, so there will be no regular celeb birthday post. And yes, I'm well aware of Kyle MacLachchchlan.) In her honor, I dug out a reading of Drew's astrological chart (pictured at left) that I wrote waaay back in 1998. (Reduce, reuse, recycle, I always say). Here's an excerpt:

"Few people are born with such an obvious karmic mixed bag as Drew Barrymore. Though she's only 23 [again, this was 1998; she's now 31], her checkered history is now something of a modern fairy tale: Inheriting the acting gifts of her Barrymore predecessors as well as their capacity for self-destructiveness, Drew starred in E.T., one of the most successful films of all time, at age 6 ... and found herself in drug rehab at 13. Bouncing back from a precocious addiction to alcohol and cocaine, Drew slowly found her way back into the spotlight, graduating from skanky B-movie fare like Poison Ivy and TV's The Amy Fisher Story to meatier film roles. Now a lauded leading lady and, by all appearances, a content and grounded young woman who fairly bubbes over with enthusiasm for life, Drew has gone from rehab to Cinderella, and from Playboy model to role model. What prevented Drew from yielding to the dark side of her Barrymore heritage and ending up on the trash heap of burned-out, washed-up child stars? A look at her astrological chart provides an interesting perspective on the unpredictable bundle of gifts, weaknesses, and unique quirks that make up Drew Barrymore...." [More]

Link to the full piece here. I know, I know, the web design is so last century, but readability be damned, I just couldn't bear to get rid of the butterfly belly-button background. Happy birthday, Drew!
