Lindsay Lohan: Driving Under the Influence of Inconjuncts

I am starting to really love this Lindsay Lohan girl. I mean, she is just barreling down the track toward train-wreck-dom and absolutely refuses to be derailed. You have to admire that kind of unstoppable determination! Anyhoo, for those who still feel that her incorrigible behavior requires some sort of explanation above and beyond "She is Lindsay Lohan," I thought today's DUI bust would be a good occasion to take a peep at her transit chart and see what's going on in her stars. (Note to Alexa, the reader who said she'd rather hold out for an incident report than read a birthday forecast for LiLo … look, you didn't have to wait very long!)

When Lindsay last checked herself into rehab after her Memorial Day weekend bust, as longtime readers will recall, I discussed at length the role of rebellious, volatile Uranus in her DUI drama. {Full story} Right now, transiting retrograde Uranus in addictive, self-destructive Pisces is forming a tense, unstable yod with Lindsay's Venus in Leo and Mars in Capricorn. See Lindsay Lohan's birth chart (Astrotheme, no birth time) Venus in Leo natives demand fierce loyalty and a lot of attention. The details unfolding in the latest incident suggest that Lindsay was busted while in hot pursuit of a personal assistant who had quit hours earlier. {Source} In an attempt to demand this the-world-revolves-around-me loyalty (Venus in Leo) and assert her authority (Capricorn) over her employee, Lindsay may well have been impelled to act out (Uranus) aggressively (Mars).

Echoing this theme, transiting Mars in stubborn Taurus is square Lindsay's natal Venus, again stirring up tension in relationships, as well as trine her natal Mars (making outbursts of temper hard to control) and inconjunct natal Uranus--which again suggests acting out to release tension.

Another inconjunct aspect is found between transiting Jupiter and Lindsay's Sun, suggesting that she is feeling stuck in her growth path. Inconjuncts signify adjustment--but often one has to wrap one's mind around a new perspective, or make some compromises, to achieve this adjustment in a meaningful way. Evidently even with an extended stay in rehab, Lindsay was unable, or unready, to make the adjustment to a new, sober lifestyle.

Unpredictable transiting Uranus is also squaring Lindsay's natal Chiron in Gemini. Chiron represents an inner wounding, and given Gemini's rulership of cars and vehicles, it seems apt that LiLo's cries for help always seem to happen behind the wheel. With the self-undoing nature of Uranus in Pisces, it seems likely that Linds is on some level deliberately sabotaging herself as an act of hurt and defiance. A rumored "cutter," she may use self-destructive behavior as a "coping mechanism," such as it is, to deal with pressure. And with all those inconjuncts and squares, the poor lass is certainly under a great deal of pressure these days.

LiLo's rep has announced that she is back in treatment at an undisclosed facility, but as I have previously discussed, I don't think she's ready to really clean up her act just yet. If for no other purpose than PR, she may remain in this revolving-door rehab pattern for quite some time, likely the next couple of years. {Full story} That is, unless she crashes and burns once and for all--which would sadden me greatly, since, as I said above, I am starting to really love this girl.

Lindsay Lohan: Rehab, Rebellion, and Uranus

Professional party girl Lindsay Lohan has hit her limit (as well as the pavement with her knees, and a tree with her car). Yes, LiLo is back in rehab, after a first try that she is reported to have sneered off as a P.R. damage control tactic. Now that she's received this latest barrage of wakeup calls, is Lindsay finally making a serious commitment to recovery this time? I'd like to say yes, but ... a look at her horoscope shows a lot of volatility that has not yet settled down. See Lindsay Lohan's birth chart (Astrotheme, no birth time)

First, Uranus is about to station a degree away from the square to its natal position. Uranus is the "question authority," "you're not the boss of me" planet, and the first of the two Uranus squares in one's lifetime marks a period of transitioning -- bumpily -- from adolescence into, ideally, adulthood. As Robert Hand says of the Uranus square in his excellent book Planets in Transit, "Even if you do not go through an especially rebellious phase, this will still be a time of intense and rapid change, when you go out into the world without the comfort and security of doing what your elders tell you." While a gross understatement in Lindsay's case, this is certainly a dead-on assessment of the position in which she currently finds herself. Transiting Uranus is also four degrees shy of a conjunction to Lindsay's Jupiter in Pisces, which is exacerbating her urge to act out -- specifically, through self-indulgence and self-medication.

Also, note that transiting Saturn is conjuncting Lindsay's natal Venus -- the same aspect that, last year, I correctly predicted would bring a reality check in the form of being dumped by then-beau Harry Morton. {Full story} Now she's rumored to be getting another romantic reality check ... on the down low. Allegedly, LiLo's ambivalence over her affair with DJ Samantha Ronson -- and their public fight over her refusal to make it public -- was one of the stressors that pushed Lindsay to the breaking point. (Incidentally, in Lindsay's natal chart, Uranus --frequently associated with "alternative" sexuality --is trined by relationship planet Venus and semisextiled by sex-drive-driving Mars.)

(Data note: I've been unsuccessful in tracking down Samantha's birth data, other than photo evidence that she once held a birthday party on August 7, making her likely a Leo--with her Sun conjunct LiLo's Venus, perhaps? If anyone has S.Ron's DOB, puh-leeeeze pass it along! I would loooooove to look at her chart next to Lindsay's!)

Saturn -- the planet of lessons learned, of killing one's buzz, of getting the car keys taken away, is trine rebellious Uranus, and sextile Chiron, the planetoid that represents inner wounding (Uranus opposes Chiron in LiLo's natal chart; she acts out rebelliously to call attention to her inner pain). Saturn trine Uranus could be favorable to Lindsay harnessing the rebellious energy of the Uranus square and checking herself before she wrecks herself ... but it could also signal that the authority figures in her life are actually enabling her to careen out of control. Gee, wonder how that might play out (*cough*Dina*cough*Michael*cough*).

Do I think LiLo is on track to turn her life around? No. With all the volatile Uranian energy, I'm not sure that Lindsay is really ready to commit to recovery in earnest. If Lindsay is ever going to get serious about sobriety, it may be when transiting Saturn squares its own natal position in spring 2008, and she takes a hard look at the path that she's on. She may also bolt from her parents, realizing that they are undermining rather than reinforcing the structure and boundaries in her life.

But even then, Lindsay may not be out of the woods. In fall 2008, Uranus' square to its natal position will finally be exact. Even if her recovery has continued until then, an incident could lead her to fly off the handle -- and off the wagon -- with all her knee-jerk rebellious instincts resurfacing. Then, when Uranus finally makes a direct hit to her natal Jupiter in March 2009, La Linds will once again feel tremendous pressure to act out and indulge her self-medicating urges. Lindsay's luck could certainly take a dramatic turn -- for better or worse -- at that time.

Lindsay Lohan in Recovery: I Totally Called It!

Okay, maybe it's bad karma to feel so schadenfreudetastic about someone else's problems, even when that someone is rich, spoiled, young and skinny. But it just so happens that I am 2 for 2 in plotting the tipping points of Lindsay Lohan's downward spiral. First I predicted that Lindsay would get her heart broken in September, and indeed her longtime-by-Lindsay-standards beau Harry Morton dumped her that month. Then I warned Lindsay that if she kept self-medicating she could end up in rehab by Thanksgiving:

By the time Uranus stations in a near-exact trine to her Sun on November 20, Lindsay could be challenging Whitney Houston's candidacy for mayor of Train Wreck City. If Lindsay ends up in the hospital again around that time, she may not be so lucky as to get out in time for dinner and clubbing. Don't be surprised if Lindsay ends up spending Thanksgiving in rehab. {Full story}

Now, after a fog of a Thanksgiving weekend during which she accused She Who Shall Not Be Named, For Publicity Feeds Her Horrible Power, of hitting her, and then denied ever making such a claim, comes news that Lindsay is attending AA meetings. Okay, so it's not an in-house recovery program (which I'm guessing LiLo actually needs, considering reports that she has still been sighted out clubbing even as she hits the 12 steps), but at least she's making strides toward getting help.

With Venus transiting her natal Uranus, she is still going through a chaotic time of ups and downs, especially as relationships are concerned (think: her on-again, off-again feud with SWSNBNFPFHHP). We might see another outburst out of Lindsay around December 11, when the Sun conjuncts her natal Uranus, and some addictive behavior around Christmas, when the Sun will be on her natal Neptune. An even more intense time awaits her next spring, when Saturn will be on her Venus and Jupiter on her Uranus. The pressure of responsibility and its impact on her relationships may cause Lindsay to burst and act out in a big way.

For now, as transiting Jupiter approaches the conjunction to her natal Saturn, Lindsay has a good chance to grow into the responsibility of being an adult and creating the structure for herself that her immature parents obviously were incapable of providing her. But the turbulent Uranus in Pisces influence could win out and bring Lindsay more substance-related troubles. Hopefully attending AA meetings will give her the inspiration and support she needs to get her life and career on track.

Lindsay Lohan: Dumped During a Saturn-Venus Transit

My Lindsay Lohan Saturn-Venus breakup prediction has come true! Let the schadenfreude and own-horn-tooting begin! (Oh wait, it already has.) Thanks so much to reader Pluto for the heads-up that heirhead Harry Morton has dumped young Hollywood's premier train wreck in training, as evidenced by a sighting of LiLo "crying in the lobby at the Chateau Marmont Thursday night." {Source: Perez Hilton}

As faithful readers such as Pluto recall, I first predicted on the occasion of Lindsay's 20th birthday this past July that we could "expect to see Lindsay learn a hard lesson in love in mid-September, when transiting Saturn conjuncts her Venus." {Source}

When Lindsay began dating H.Mo later that month and landed her bikinied bottom in the hospital for quote-unquote dehydration amidst heavy partying, I reiterated and honed this prediction:

"As I mentioned in Linds's birthday forecast, September is set to bring some hard lessons in love when Saturn conjuncts Lindsay's Venus. Now that she has met hottie heirhead Harry Morton and finally established a relationship lasting longer than the time it takes to find her underwear balled up on the bedroom floor, signs point to him breaking her heart once the summer ends." {Source}

Gosh, the summer technically ended at 1:03AM today with the autumn equinox, so I guess I was slightly off there. Technically, Saturn's conjunction to Lindsay's Venus was exact on September 12. But eclipses often act as event triggers, which seems to be the case here. Harry evidently ditched La Linds Wednesday night, soon before the lunar eclipse (Lindsay's Cancer Sun is ruled by the Moon; her Leo Venus, by the Sun) in the last degree of Virgo that occured in the wee hours of Friday morning.

Time will tell if the second part of my prediction, which foretold Lindsay's descent into a self-medicating spiral following the breakup, will also come to pass. With transiting Saturn's trine to her natal Uranus, she might act out in a volatile, unpredictable way. It would be nice to think that since Saturn is also inconjunct Lindsay's Mars in Saturn-ruled Capricorn, she might clean up her act, straighten up and fly right. But with her professional rep already on the downslide thanks to Dehydrategate, and no non-sleazy adult role model in sight, LiLo could be in major trouble. Thanksgiving in rehab is definitely still on the table.

Dehydration Deja Vu for Lindsay Lohan

Okay, I know I'm slightly behind the ball on the reportage here, but when I read that Lindsay Lohan had collapsed on-set and been rushed to the hospital suffering from that celebrity scourge, dehydration {Source}, I began to wonder if the Mercury retrograde had somehow caused the Interwebs to regurgitate an old news item as if it were fresh. Why, as early as February, I was reporting on Lindsay's world hospital tour. But it would seem that this is indeed new news, with my gossip god Ted Casablanca contributing (in one of his razor-sharp-clawedest columns ever-ever-ever, OMFG ) the juicy details that:

"Perhaps this dehydration had something to do with her Tuesday late-night jaunt to Guy's for karaoke night. L.L. was snapped leavin' Guy's around 2 ayem, and reported on set for her cinematic duty just 30 minutes later. At 4 ayem, just an hour and a half into filming, the "heat" (aren't nights relatively cool?) became too much for delicate Linds to handle...hospital time.

Never fear, though. After some R&R at beach beau Harry Morton's pad, our tireless trooper was back in action that night, hittin' Il Sole for din and Chateau after." {Source}

How ironic that Lindsay's problems managing her water-sign planets would lead to dehydration! Clearly, she has failed to heed my warnings, continuing to overindulge. Birthday Predictions for Lindsay Lohan: More Trouble Ahead?

As of today, Lindsay Lohan need not worry about the hated "teen queen" label, for this Crab-cakes (born July 2, 1986) has hit the big 2-0. In honor of La Lohan's 20th, I thought I'd take a peep at her solar return chart and see if maturing out of her teenage years will inspire Linds to settle down and stabilize.

Ohhh, dear. Well, I'm sorry to say that her birthday forecast does not show Lindsay likely to outgrow her feisty firecrotch ways anytime soon. With a mutable T-square in her chart between Jupiter in vulnerable Pisces, volatile Uranus in Sagittarius and sore point Chiron in Gemini, Lindsay has a tendency to instability as it is. Her combination of the Sun in sensitive Cancer and Mercury and Venus in self-centered Leo make her need a lot of attention and validation, and with the Sun's opposition to Mars, she may act out if she doesn't get it. ~ See Lindsay Lohan's birth chart (Astrotheme, no birth time) All these tendencies are unfortunately reinforced in Lindsay's solar return chart for the coming year, suggesting a turbulent 2006–2007 that could see her plunge even further off the deep end.

Solar return Jupiter is trine Lindsay's natal Sun in Cancer and conjunct natal Pluto in Scorpio, meaning power and control issues will emerge in a big way for Lindsay this year. In the solar return chart, Jupiter also forms a grand water trine with the Sun in Cancer and Uranus in Pisces, auguring issues with addiction and impulse behavior getting out of control. If Lindsay finds herself unable to possess and control who or what she wants (Sun/Pluto) she might act out with self-destructive, self-medicating behavior.

This out-of-control water energy is already starting to become a trend for Linds. Think back to the grand water trine I warned her about in May and its potential for erratic, addictive behavior. (Why doesn't Lindsay listen to me?!) If you'll recall, Lindsay spent the month of May promoting Prairie Home Companion on morning shows in the clothes she'd been wearing the night before. She also got into beef with She Who Shall Not Be Named, For Publicity Feeds Her Horrible Power; and was of course embroiled in Firecrotchgate after Brandon "Jabba the Hut Lite" Davis besmirched her, um, good reputation.

Do we have more of this excessive partying and arguing to look forward to from L.Lo this year? I'm afraid so, since solar return Mercury on her natal Mercury and solar return Mars on her natal Venus, all in Leo, suggest Lindsay giving free rein to all that self-centered, impulsive, insistent-on-getting-her-own-way Leo energy. Especially if alcohol and/or other substances are in the mix, the mix of fire and water energies could be toxic. Solar return Mars on Lindsay's Venus is activating the natal inconjunct between Venus and Mars in Capricorn. Mars rules passion as well as temper; Lindsay's tendency to blow up if she doesn't get what she wants is going to come out in full force this year. Only recently she picked a fight with hard-core Scorpio Diddy at a party, which is really not a wise move; you just don't want to cross powerful Scorpios, people. In her professional life, Lindsay seems to have managed to use her Sun's opposition to Mars in Capricorn to give her drive and discipline, but in her personal life it appears to be manifesting through outbursts of temper when she feels she's been slighted (see also: Jessica Simpson).

But is Lindsay's temper a cry for help, her Leo ego covering her Cancer sensitivity? With all the uncertainty in her life, Lindsay seems to be floundering, drifting on a sea of nebulous water sign energy. Saturn in the solar return chart semisextiles her Sun, offering a subtle warning that she may need to check herself before she wrecks herself. Expect to see Lindsay learn a hard lesson in love in mid-September, when transiting Saturn conjuncts her Venus. She may discover that she can't always get what she wants... the question is, will this lead to a meltdown.

Should I close with one more rhetorical question? Okay. Happy birthday, Lindsay... just try not to have too much fun celebrating!

More Warning Signs for Lindsay Lohan

In last week's item on Lindsay Lohan, I discussed the SNL cast's concern for her well-being. However, I neglected to note the full effect of this coming week's grand trine in water signs on La Lindsay. The planetary influences could bring out her addictive tendencies in a big way.

As Mars crosses Lindsay's Sun in Cancer tomorrow, it will be forming a trine aspect (a harmonious, flowing aspect) to retrograde Jupiter in Scorpio and Uranus in Pisces. This grand trine, a triangle-shaped configuration that unites all three signs of the same element, makes things come very easily to Linds... but with the water signs, the overreaching of Jupiter, and the volatility of Uranus, this could mean gratifying her more self-destructive urges.

If Lindsay does not want to wake up in yet another hospital bed, or worse yet, in the bed of someone even less attractive than Brett Ratner, she will need to seriously check herself for the next couple of weeks. We're talking eat something before you start drinking, honey!!! And switch to water as soon as the urge to have intercourse with someone who looks like Brett Ratner arises. This grand trine will be in effect until mid-May-ish, so my advice to Linds would be to steer clear of the hard-core party circuit for a while. It's for your own good, my dear: Friends don't let friends hook up with fat older skeezeballs!

Lindsay Lohan: Intervention Time Again!

Word is that after her appearance on Saturday Night Live last week, Lindsay Lohan was treated to another intervention by the SNL cast, who apparently are concerned about her partying too hard (despite making jokes about it on the air). [Source] This would be the second consecutive time Lindsay has been treated to an intervention as well as an after-party as thanks for hosting SNL. Evidently Linds was utterly unreceptive to the intervention input, which is most troubling considering that Tina Fey & co. were echoing Saturn in Leo's message of caution for LiLo.

When last we reported on Lindsay at the start of February, she had just had a mysterious accident at Bryan Adams' house in London and appeared to be generally out of control. Since then, she's continued to lose weight to the point where her clothes are literally falling off her, and while not resembling a 50-year-old divorcée quite as much as Nicole Richie does, let's just say she's getting there. It would seem that the Uranus and Neptune transits we reported on back in February are still causing trouble for Linds.

Lindsay currently has some Neptune/Pisces energy influencing her, which can signal addictive and self-destructive behavior. See Lindsay Lohan's birth chart (Astrotheme, no birth time) Chaotic Uranus in Pisces has been trining her Sun, making it very tempting for her to act out, rebel and indulge. This aspect definitely describes the wild way Lindsay appears to be careening through life, veering from one whim to another.

Pisces' ruler Neptune, the planet of delusion, illusion and addiction as well as fantasy and fame, is directly opposite Lindsay's Venus, planet of relationships, which suggests that Lindsay could be blotting out her issues with men, and with her fame, by self-medicating. Venus also represents the feminine principle, and with Neptune in Aquarius, the sign of public perception and mass media, Lindsay could be trying to live up to an unrealistic Hollywood female body image ideal that she has deluded herself into validating. She is not seeing her own body clearly. With "wounded" Chiron in Aquarius about to turn retrograde near the inconjunction to her Sun, Lindsay is feeling secret pain about who she is and struggling to fit in with Hollywood's mean girls.

(Neptune also could be squaring Lindsay's Taurus Moon, depending on her birth time, and thereby forming a T-square (T-shaped aspect) with her Moon, ruler of her Cancer Sun, and Venus. If Neptune was putting pressure on both of these feminine signifiers in the chart, it is even more likely that she could be experiencing unrealistic-body-perception issues.)

With Pisces and Neptune's potential for self-destructiveness, and Uranus' tendency to get out of control, these aspects could be leading Lindsay down a very wrong road. Along with the Neptune/Pisces influences, LiLo also has tough-love Saturn poised to teach her a lesson—the easy way or the hard way, depending on whether she takes some responsibility for the consequences of her actions, or just buries her head in the sand. Saturn shows us where we need a reality check and assigns us karmic homework.

Right now, transiting Saturn is trining Saturn's position in Lindsay's natal chart, as well as conjuncting her Mercury and squaring her Pluto. At this point in the Saturn cycle—the trine, an easy, flowing aspect—Lindsay has a window in which to get it together and lay a solid foundation for the next phase of her fledgling adult life. With Saturn on her Mercury, planet of communication and thought, it is just possible that the intervention got through to her on some level, at least planting seeds in her mind. The square to Pluto would give her the power to transform her life and get on the right track, if she rallies to do so.

But Lindsay will need to resist the temptation of aspects that could trigger bad behavior. Venus in Pisces is approaching a conjunction to Lindsay's Jupiter (exact on April 26), which could bring overindulgence in drugs and alcohol. At the start of May, Mars will be on her Sun, aggravating the explosive potential of the trine with transiting Uranus, and possibly causing Lindsay to act out her aggressions—or self-medicate with particular ferocity. It will take a major Saturnian force of will to overcome the urge to take the easy way out when things get stressful. But she will need to learn to set some limits if she wants to still have a career by the time her Saturn return rolls around at age 28. It's a long shot, but for the sake of her well-being, let's all hope La Lindsay starts acting the age she dresses.

Lindsay Lohan's World Hospital Tour

CNN confirmed today what I first saw on blogs a week ago: that Lindsay Lohan cut her leg at the London home of Bryan Adams and had to be rushed to a hospital for 10 stitches. According to skanky, enabling mother Dina:

"She and her friends were preparing breakfast, with eggs and everything, and Lindsay was going up the stairs, carrying a ceramic teacup. She had just come out of the shower so she was still wet and had some lotion on, and she completely flipped on the stairs since it was slippery. The teacup went flying, it was shattered, and one of the pieces cut Lindsay in her shin. It was an accident." (Source)

This raises so many questions that may be beyond even the grasp of astrology to resolve. To wit: What was Lindsay doing at Bryan Adams' place with her friends? What is Bryan Adams doing living in London? Is he still popular there or something? How was Lindsay preparing breakfast and in the shower at the same time? And how did her mother possess such eerie photographic recall of the incident, down to the consistency of L.Lo's lotioned skin?

But I digress. Perhaps what astrology can help shed some light on is the fact that Lindsay is in and out of hospitals the way most celebs stay in hotels. Already this year she's been an ER VIP in Miami and London, and that's not counting last year's incident when she fell victim to the celebrity exhaustion epidemic. Oh yeah, and she crashed her car a bunch of times. Since early 2005, erratic, accident-prone Uranus in Pisces has been trining Lindsay's sensitive Cancer Sun, a transit that makes it easy to get carried away with spontaneous behavior and disruptive changes. Uranus stationed in a trine to Lindsay's Sun in June 2005, around the time (as she revealed, then retracted in Vanity Fair) when she became scary-skinny due to self-destructive behavior. Things come easily to people when trines are active, sometimes too easily. The hyperspeed pace of her life changing with fame could be overwhelming to a sensitive young Cancer like Lindsay. Pisces rules addiction and self-undoing, and Lindsay may have been lashing out at herself in order to blot out intense feelings. With four planets in fire signs and Mars and Neptune in driven Capricorn, Lindsay is hardly a stereotypical reclusive, shrinking-violet Cancer, but as a water sign she certainly might internalize stress more than she even realizes.

Neptune in Aquarius has also been opposing Lindsay's Venus in Leo for the past year, during which she seems to have gone through a lot of relationship turbulence. Neptune clouds and confuses, even deludes, and with it afflicting her relationship planet, Lindsay may have had a complete lack of clarity around who really cares about her and is loyal to her (Venus in Leo), and who is just interested in her fame (Neptune in Aquarius).

On the day of the accident, transiting Mars in Capricorn was in a near-exact trine to Lindsay's natal retrograde Mars in Taurus. This is a time of high activity and energy, when drive and confidence come easily. Lindsay may have been rushing and so eager to get to the next thing that she lost her balance. Again, trines can incite you to bite off more than you can chew. Lindsay would be well advised to slow down and make an effort to be present in the moment, instead of always chasing after the next big thrill. Uranus' trine to her Sun will once again be exact around February 20, and it would be a real shame to see Lindsay land in yet another hospital. Let's hope she uses this water-sign energy creatively rather than self-destructively.
